He was incarcerated at the federal prison in Danbury, Connecticut, despite efforts by Speaker Mike Johnson and other House GOP leaders to prevent it. Johnson even planned to file a legal brief in support of Bannon.

In June, three GOP leaders revealed, as reported by Politico, “It will withdraw certain arguments made by the House earlier in the litigation about the organization of the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6 Attack on the US Capitol during the prior Congress.”

Another person added, “I sure wish Republicans cared as much about our country, democracy and the rule of law as much as they do about Putin.”

"Who? Oh that guy. Get used to him being in prison for quite a long time. His court case is coming up in September. He will be back in the pokey for a good long while," a tweet read. [sic]
