WASHINGTON, DC: Congressional Republicans, including Rep Lauren Boebert, turned their backs on Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene after her heated argument during the House Oversight Committee hearing on May 16, according to Raw Story.

The Georgia lawmaker engaged in a war of words with Democratic Rep Jasmine Crockett during the committee meeting convened to discuss further steps to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress.

Greene insulted Crockett's looks, claiming the Texas congresswoman's "fake eyelashes" prevented her from understanding what she was reading. Following the insult, the meeting deviated into an hour-long, chaotic, heated exchange.

The Democrat, however, took an indirect swipe at Greene. She asked committee chair Rep James Comer whether hypothetically she would violate the decorum if she mentioned a particular individual of the committee had a "bleach blonde, badly built butch body".

Boebert, no stranger to heated arguments, was the only GOP member of the Oversight Committee to join Democrats in voting to silence Greene for the rest of the hearing.

The Colorado congresswoman noted Greene was making other GOP members look bad with her behavior during the meeting. "It was embarrassing what was going on," Boebert stated later on Capitol Hill.

"I couldn't bring myself to stand in defense of that, I wouldn't do it for the other side."

In addition, during the meeting, she also apologized to the American people for the turn of events that embarrassed the committee as a whole, as per Mediaite.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, who recently escaped Greene's motion to oust him from the speakership, weighed in on the matter. "It was not a good look for Congress. We all — I think — need to control the emotions better and get the job done," he told ABC News.

"I think the decorum in the house is an important tradition to maintain."

House Oversight Committee member Rep Jamie Raskin was another Republican who blasted Greene's behavior.

He deemed her words towards Crockett "a failure of leadership," as per The Hill. The legislator from Maryland added that the Republican conference at one point would have to "get on top of their Marjorie Taylor Greene problem."

Despite all criticisms, Greene refused to apologize and instead defended her conduct. Noting some were upset about the scenes from the meeting, she wrote on X that she was "upset and disgusted pretty much everyday at the Democrat controlled DOJ, federal government, and Congress in general".

Internet mocks Marjorie Taylor Greene

Social media users ridiculed Greene after fellow Republican lawmakers, particularly Boebert, turned their backs on her after the drama at the Oversight Committee meeting.

One user wrote, "When you lose Boebert, is there any deeper hole to fall into?"

Another remarked, "OMG. Just imagine how MTG feels knowing that Lauren Boebert is embarrassed by her."

"It's fun to watch her field of influence be reduced to NOTHING in a matter of a couple of weeks," a third user added.

A fourth response read, "I wish Georgia would turn their backs on her, too, and quit electing her. She’s garbage!"

Another user wrote, "When your behavior embarrasses Boebert, you have sunk incredibly low."

Someone else joked, "Geezus! When you’ve been called “embarrassing” by Lauren Boebert, you might as well go back home and get your job back at Waffle House."

A user commented on Facebook, "How low do you have to be to have Boebert turn her back on you? I suspect MTG will eventually end up like Madison Cawthorn and primaried by a regular conservative because people are just tired of her."

"Empty green has been turning Congress into a circus and some people are sick of the clowns," read a remark.
