RIFLE, COLORADO: Rep Lauren Boebert issued a statement about her son's arrest as new information surfaced regarding his alleged involvement in a series of credit card thefts.

The congresswoman's 18-year-old son, Tyler Jay Boebert, and his underage friends were arrested on Wednesday, February 28 for breaking into cars and for property thefts in Rifle, Colorado, as per the New York Post

Between last Tuesday and Wednesday, the group broke into at least three cars and stole credit cards and wallets to make purchases, according to a police affidavit. He was identified at a gas station's surveillance footage where one of the stolen cards was used.

In a statement to the Denver Post, the Republican lawmaker Lauren noted,  "I love my son Tyler, who has been through some very difficult, public challenges for a young man and the subject of attention that he didn't ask for."

The Colorado Rep added, "It breaks my heart to see my child struggling and in this situation, especially when he has been provided multiple opportunities to get his life on track."

"I will never give up on him and I will continue to be there for him. As an adult and father, Tyler will take responsibility for his actions and should be held accountable for poor decisions just like any other citizen," asserted Lauren.

Lauren's family has had quite a few encounters with law enforcement officials in the past months. For instance, her ex-husband, Jayson Boebert, was arrested this January and is facing six charges, including one count for assaulting Tyler at a restaurant.

"She should follow her own advice and resign," wrote an individual on Facebook, while someone else noted, "But she’s quick to attack and condemn Biden’s son. Pure hypocrisy."

One more opined, "It’s your fault on how you raised him . Period," and another person added, "I predict this isn't the last we'll be hearing about Tyler Boebert and it won't be positive."
