Liam Payne ‘begged’ Kate Cassidy to stay in Argentina and was upset when she didn't listen, claims source
BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA: Former One Direction star Liam Payne reportedly begged his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, to remain in Argentina, according to sources close to the couple.
A friend of Cassidy revealed that Payne was upset when Cassidy decided to leave the country after their trip, which was initially planned for five days but extended to two weeks.
Liam Payne allegedly urged girlfriend Kate Cassidy to stay in Argentina
“Liam didn’t want Kate to leave Argentina,” the source shared. “He wanted her to stay. She says he begged her to stay.” A friend, who wished to stay anonymous, revealed that the couple’s conversation was "actually a little more heated than you’d think,” though they didn't provide any additional details.
Cassidy, who shared her frustration with her followers on TikTok, explained that while she loved South America, she grew restless staying in one place for too long.
On Monday, Cassidy posted on TikTok, expressing how "ready" she was to leave Argentina. She explained to her followers that she and Payne initially planned to stay for just five days, but the trip ended up stretching to two weeks.
Even with an explanation, a friend told The Post that Payne “didn’t know why” Cassidy would walk away from him.
“She wanted to be home with her dog,” the source explained. "He didn’t like that at all. He was really moody about it.”
The couple had traveled to Argentina to support Payne’s former bandmate, Niall Horan, and to reconcile their friendship. Payne even posted a now-deleted Snapchat video playfully mocking Cassidy for leaving early, saying, “So it’s going to be a nice day, and then, you’re going home. Ha ha, loser, weirdo,”
Cassidy's friend mentioned that the influencer grew restless since Payne hadn’t given her "any clear idea of when he’d be ready to leave," prompting her to take matters into her own hands and she "got herself a ticket to go home.”
Kate Cassidy says she’s at a 'complete loss’ over Liam Payne’s death
Kate Cassidy has broken her silence following the singer’s tragic death earlier this week. In an emotional statement released on Friday, Cassidy expressed that she is at “a complete loss” over the devastating turn of events.
“Nothing about the past few days has felt real,” Cassidy shared via Instagram. “I ask and pray that you’ll give me the grace and space to navigate this in private.” In a heartfelt tribute to Payne, Cassidy wrote, “Liam, my angel. You are everything. I want you to know I loved you unconditionally and completely. I will continue to love you for the rest of my life.”
Payne, 31, died after falling from the third-story balcony of his room at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires on Wednesday. In the hours leading up to his fatal fall, fellow guests at the hotel reported that the former One Direction star was “acting erratic,” with witnesses stating they saw him smash his laptop in the lobby after receiving an email that appeared to upset him.
In a 911 call, the hotel manager described Payne as “high and drunk” and shared concerns about his destructive behavior, which included damaging his hotel suite. Despite the staff’s efforts to get help, Payne tragically fell before police arrived.
Authorities later found drug paraphernalia and alcohol scattered across his room.
Payne’s sudden death has left a wave of shock and sadness among fans and loved ones.
