LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Mariah Carey is finally opening up following the double tragedy in her family. 

In a shocking turn of events, the 55-year-old singer lost her mother Patricia, and sister Alison Carey on the same day in August.

Weeks after losing her family members, ‘All I Want For Christmas’ singer broke her silence by posting on her Instagram on Sunday, September 8, that she is “back at work,” after a “couple of rough weeks.”

Mariah Carey speaks out after her mother and sister’s deaths

Taking to her Instagram, Mariah posted a clip of her practicing the slow version of her 2005 track ‘It's Like That’. She signed off by announcing, "We'll see you soon, China."

“Back at work,” she announced before adding, “It’s been a couple of rough weeks, but I appreciate everyone’s love and support so much.”

She also gave a shout-out to her fans while giving a nod to her upcoming shows in China and Brazil, writing, “I can’t wait to see my fans in China & Brazil. Love you! ❤️❤️❤️.”

On August 27, the ‘Fantasy’ singer announced the death of her family members in a statement to People, saying, "My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day.”

The Grammy-winning singer added, "I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed.”

"I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time,” continued the songstress.

It has been previously reported that the ‘Emotions’ singer was estranged from her sister and her mother for many years before their deaths, writing in her 2020 memoir that her mother “has caused me so much pain and confusion.”

Mariah Carey's reappearance left her fans in joy

Following Mariah Carey's heartfelt announcement, fans were quick to extend a warm welcome to the songstress for her return. 

One of the fans commented on her Instagram post, "So Happy To see You Back and Résilient ❤️🔥 What a force."

Someone else said, "Welcome back, MIMI. We love you!"

One of the fans sent their love from Brazil, saying, "Sending you so much love Mimi 💖 Brazil will be there for you and we can't wait for this concert 🇧🇷."

Another fan chimed in, "We waiting 4 u With much love queen!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷."

Someone else declared with much fervor, "We love you Mariah always and forever ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️."

"YAYY! you back. They really cant wait to see you. Keep slayyed with your vocals," rejoiced another fan who celebrated the singer's return. 

Another Brazilian fan noted, "The best !! Looking forward to your coming to Brasil ❤️."

Meanwhile, someone else voiced all of her fans' emotions, "OMG WE MISSED YOU 🥹😭🙏🏼."

A fan from China added hopefully, "See you in Beijing🦋❤️😍."
