LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Mariah Carey's fans were left feeling uneasy after her latest interview.

The pop legend sat down with The Project’s Georgie Tunny on Thursday, May 22, but instead of her usual charm, viewers got single-word answers and deadpan delivery. Fans genuinely questioned if they were watching a robot.

Mariah Carey's robotic responses during interview

Mariah Carey, 56, appeared less than thrilled to be chatting, giving short and bizarre responses that left the audience bewildered. When asked what she’d like on her tour rider for her upcoming Aussie shows, Mariah replied, “A kangaroo.”

When Tunny touched on Mariah’s famously high lighting standards, the diva responded: “Good lighting is everything. I don’t know why people even have rooms that are poorly lit.”

The conversation then turned to online trolls. Referring to the backlash Katy Perry has been getting during her tour, Tunny asked, “Is it fair or are people just a******s?” Mariah answered, “Yeah… basically.”

And when asked how she "copes" with haters, Mariah said, “By not coping is what I do." She added, “I mean, just don’t pay attention to it, you know? And everybody else goes through it, so… whatever.”

Fans roast Mariah Carey's interview on social media

To say the interview landed awkwardly would be an understatement. Fans quickly took to social media and expressed their frustration.

"That was the most bizarre interview!!" one posted on X.

"Why is Mariah so stiff? Almost lifeless..." another wondered.

"Mariah gave her zero energy, that woman asked very light questions, kept it respectful and energetic," a third offered.

"Sure she wasn’t an Ai version of Carey? Weird smile, no eye contact. Bot for sure," someone else pointed out.

"Was that an AI version of MC? That poor lady. I feel sorry for you. You did your best. She hasn't been called a DIVA for no reason.. ..Maybe in the shadow sooner then she likes," a comment read.

"What a s**t interview from the Project - I got nothing out of it and It felt very weird not like a true interview live from satellite," another fumed.

She told her Aussie fans via the Daily Mail, “I missed you terribly, certainly the fans and the people, the beautiful land and the animals, you know, it’s Australia, c’mon!”

An entertainment promoter added, “Mariah has been eager to reconnect with her Australian fans. The Celebration of Mimi tour is the perfect opportunity to do so, and plans are underway to include Australia in the tour itinerary later this year.”

This comes after her planned 2018 tour was scrapped due to a “scheduling conflict,” leaving fans waiting years for a comeback. However, tour dates and venues are expected to drop soon.
