Mariah Carey’s sister's last days revealed as she died without fulfilling their father's last wish
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The final days of Mariah Carey’s “ex” sister Alison Carey have come to the fore after her death in August 2024.
Alison’s friend and companion, David Baker recently opened up about her last days and also revealed that she died without fulfilling the last wish of her and Mariah’s father Alfred Roy.
According to Baker, their father wished to reunite Alison with her Grammy-winning singer Mariah, but unfortunately, his dying wish remained unfulfilled.
Alison Carey’s last days revealed
Mariah Carey lost her mother Patricia and her estranged sister Alison on the same day on August 24.
While the ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ singer shared that she was beside her mother during the last days of her life, the 63-year-old Alison had only her friend and companion David Baker by her bedside as she was receiving hospice care at her home in Coxsackie in upstate New York.
Baker opened up about his companion’s last days, as he shared with The US Sun, “Two days earlier I told her I would never forget her, that I loved her and that she would always have a place in my heart.”
"In a barely audible voice she said 'I love you',” reminisced Baker.
He continued, "Those were her last words. By the next morning she had become totally unresponsive. She died two days later."
Alison Carey could not fulfill her father’s wish
Following the double tragedy in her family, Mariah Carey released a public statement where she expressed grief over losing her mother and sister on the same day.
She shared in a statement with People, "I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day."
Mariah added, "I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed. I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time."
However, Baker questioned the sincerity of Mariah’s statement saying she could have at least tried to call her estranged sister.
He shared with the outlet, “Mariah has now denied forever the last wish of both her father and her sister.”
The ‘Emotions’ singer herself wrote about her father’s dying wish in her 2020 memoir, ‘The Meaning of Mariah Carey’ that her father's "dying wish was that my ex-sister Alison and I would speak again.”
Baker told The US Sun that Alsion often talked about being "abandoned" by her sister.
He shared that when Alison came to know her organs were failing, she requested Baker to try to get her reconnected with Mariah.
Though Baker tried to connect with Mariah, he realized he did not have the singer’s number. Then he tried to send a message through Alison's children, knowing at least one of them was in contact with the star.
Baker shared, "Back on August 3 - after Alison was on home hospice care and knew she would die - she told me she wanted to speak to Mariah 'before it's too late'."
"I told her I had no phone number for her sister, but there might still be a way to get a message to her,” he shared before adding that he later took to social media in an attempt to contact Mariah.
He tweeted on X on August 3, "A sad ending to a tragic life. @mariahcarey's 'ex' sister now receiving home hospice care."
However, there was no response on that as well. "The tag would have brought the tweet to her attention and given her a way to reply. But there was no response,” shared Baker.
"Mariah says her heart is broken at losing her sister," said Baker, and noted, "Alison also was saddened by not being able to connect with Mariah as her life was about to end."
