Marjorie Taylor Greene claims Trump did ‘everything in his power’ to stop Epstein files release

WASHINGTON, DC: Former Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene accused President Donald Trump of actively trying to keep the Jeffrey Epstein files under wraps.

"He's covering it up. He fought us the entire time," she said on 'Piers Morgan Uncensored.'

"He did everything in his power to stop the Epstein Files from being released. He even forced Mike Johnson, the Speaker of the House, to do everything that he could do to stop it from releasing. It was the most unbelievable thing I've ever seen."

Greene tied the government shutdown late last year directly to the controversy. "We were shut down for 8 weeks. We had a government shutdown back in fall of 2025 for eight weeks. And I believe that is part of trying to prevent the Epstein Files from coming out," she continued.

Greene, who resigned from Congress in January this year, had been pushing a bipartisan effort to force the full release of the Epstein investigative documents. That move, she claims, put her directly at odds with Trump.

Trump fired back publicly, branding her a “traitor” and a “disgrace.”

According to Greene, things turned deeply personal.

"The only time I reached out to him was via text message after I had resigned. And he had been attacking me and I was receiving... just, I can't even count how many death threats. But death threats escalated on one of my children," she said.

According to Greene, she looped in top officials, including FBI Director Kash Patel, Vice President JD Vance, Susie Wiles, and James Blair, before texting Trump directly.

"I was so upset over death threats on my children because of him. And you know, the quotes in the death threat were from what the president had been calling me, a traitor. And I'm not a traitor to my country. Standing up for rape victims doesn't make me a traitor."

She said the response she got from Trump was anything but sympathetic.

"And I reached out to the president to let him know this is what's happening because what you're saying about me. He was very unkind about these death threats. So that was our last exchange," she added.

Greene was pressed by Piers Morgan on what exactly Trump said.

"He basically blamed me," she recalled. "He had no compassion for death threats on my children. He blamed me, basically that if my son were to get killed it would be my fault."

Marjorie Taylor Greene turns critic of Trump

Greene has taken repeated shots at Trump in recent weeks.

She recently reacted to a surprise loss in a Florida district that includes Trump’s Mar-a-Lago base, where Democrat Emily Gregory defeated Trump-backed candidate Jon Maples in a special election.

“Turning your back on your campaign promises, and many disgusting behaviors like calling one of your top allies ‘traitor’ for releasing the Epstein files and refusing to go along with MIGA, apparently has consequences,” she wrote on X.

“26 is gone but keep putting Americans last and 28 will be too," the former congresswoman warned.
