DALLAS, TEXAS: Mark Cuban, billionaire entrepreneur and 'Shark Tank' star, has expressed a bold ambition: if he had the means, he would buy Fox News and X, formerly known as Twitter, as reported by Business Insider.

In a recent interview with Wired, Cuban didn't shy away from his interest in these media properties.

"If I had enough money to do it, which I don't, I'd buy it in a heartbeat," he stated when discussing the possibility of acquiring Fox News.

According to Business Insider, Cuban initially backed Donald Trump, seeing him as a potential disruptor in American politics. However, Cuban's support didn't last long. After examining Trump's business and political history, Cuban changed his stance.

He cited several concerns, including controversies surrounding Trump University and Trump SoHo. Currently, Cuban strongly supports Kamala Harris and has spoken in favor of her policy positions multiple times.

Cuban's interest in Fox News is rooted in his critique of what he terms the "Fox News generation." He first introduced this concept in a previous interview, lamenting the transformation of his own generation, the baby boomers.

"I mean, my generation was sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll. I never thought they would be the Fox News generation," Cuban expressed to The New York Times' David Marchese in August 2020.

"People I knew were smoking pot, listening to Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and protest songs. The idea that those are the people condemning Black Lives Matters and watching Fox News in droves. It's so upsetting to me. You have no idea," Cuban further remarked.

However, Cuban acknowledges the steep financial hurdle in buying Fox News, estimating the cost at around $15 to $20 billion - an amount he doesn't have readily available.

"I don't have $15 or $20 billion in cash sitting around," he candidly admitted.

When it comes to X, Cuban also shows interest, although he believes that acquiring the platform is a distant possibility.

He doesn't think Elon Musk, the current owner, has any inclination to sell.

"I wish I could. There's no reason for him to sell it," Cuban said during his Wired interview. Musk acquired Twitter in October 2022 and rebranded it to X in July 2023.

Despite Cuban's doubts about purchasing X, he has been vocal about his criticisms of Musk's handling of the platform. Cuban is an active user of X and has not held back in expressing his disapproval of the changes Musk has implemented.

These criticisms haven't gone unnoticed, with Musk often responding to Cuban's critiques with insults.

"He who controls the algorithm controls the platform—controls that world, that community. And Elon has built, X has built, a very strong right-leaning community. They're fun to fuck with," Cuban noted in his Wired interview.
