Marvel plans to bring Chris Evans back to 'Avengers', fans think it proves nothing worked since 'Endgame'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Chris Evans is expected to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe once again, as reports say he will be a part of 'Avengers: Doomsday', set to release in May 2026.
Robert Downey Jr will portray Doctor Doom in the Russo Brothers film, as per People.
The outlet stated that the highly anticipated movie will see Vanessa Kirby as Susan Storm/The Invisible Woman, Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch.
However, neither Evans nor Disney have released an official confirmation yet.
Chris Evans made a cameo in 'Deadpool & Wolverine' as Johnny Storm
Chris Evans was seen in 'Deadpool & Wolverine' but not in his famous Captain America form but as Johnny Storm from 'Fantastic Four' movies.
At the time, he thanked his co-stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as well as the film's director, Shawn Levy, for the opportunity in an Instagram Story.
The 43-year-old wrote, "Thank you to Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman and Shawn Levy for letting me be a part of such an incredible movie! They’re three of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet."
He added, "Special thank you to Ryan for making it all happen. Playing Johnny again was a dream come true and he’ll always have a special place in my heart."
Reynolds also hailed Evans in a lengthy Instagram post, writing, "Thank you, @chrisevans. Some of the greatest moments I’ve ever experienced in a theater were authored by this guy."
"Seeing Johnny Storm (if only for a short while) was like seeing someone you miss come back from the dead in a dream. Way too brief and too lovely to be real," added the 'Deadpool' star.
"Goodbyes are hard. It was hard saying goodbye to Chris Evans’ Johnny Storm. But at least we got to actually say it this time," he added, referencing Storm's death in the film.

Fans divided as reports of Chris Evans' MCU return surface
Chris Evans' possible return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe has left the fans divided, with many saying that nothing has worked for the franchise since 'Avengers: Endgame'.
Notably, in the 2019 movie, Evans' character, Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, grew into an old man and passed his shield to Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson, so fans are unsure which role he will be playing in 'Doomsday'.
One fan remarked, "Putting Downey and Evans in the new Avengers is basically Marvel/Disney admitting that nothing has really worked since Endgame except Deadpool 3 (which also brought back dead characters)."
Another echoed, "Meh… for me the MCU ended with end game, everything else has been pretty mediocre except for a select few. No wonder they’re bringing them back."
One user trolling Marvel shared a meme about what Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans' thoughts could be regarding the film, with the caption, "Both Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr must be thinking this."
Another person wrote, "So Marvel is desperate. Got it."
