Maya Henry’s lawyers serve ex Liam Payne with cease and desist letter over persistent contact accusations
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Maya Henry, Liam Payne's ex-fiancee, has initiated legal proceedings against the singer. The 23-year-old Texan model directed her legal team to send a cease and desist letter to the former One Direction member, alleging persistent contact from him.
She has also accused the 31-year-old artist of excessively reaching out to her friends and family, including her mother, Azteca Henry.
Maya Henry's lawyers issue cease and desist letter to Liam Payne
Maya Henry's lawyers said in a statement to Daily Mail, "Maya Henry issued a cease and desist last week to Liam Payne following the emergence of new and concerning information."
They added, "She has retained attorneys Marco Crawford and Daniel Cerna to represent her. At this time, that is her only comment on the matter."
This incident is the most recent in the ongoing bitter dispute between the former couple. Last week, the model charged Liam with exploiting the loyalty of die-hard One Direction fans on social media to malign her.
The singer's on-and-off three-year relationship with Maya ended in 2022, nearly a year after they ended their engagement.
The 'Strip That Down' artist has since begun a new relationship with Kate Cassidy, while Maya is busy promoting her first novel, 'Looking Forward', a romance mirroring life about a young woman who falls for a pop star.
Maya Henry accuses Liam Payne of relentless harassment
Last week, Maya Henry, who is the daughter of multi-millionaire personal-injury attorney Thomas J Henry, shared a harsh critique of Liam Payne with her TikTok followers, alleging that he has made extreme efforts to reach out to her.
She said, "Ever since we broke up he messages me, will blow up my phone, not only from his phone, it's always from different phone numbers too, so I never know where it's gonna come from."
She went on to say, "He'll create new iCloud accounts to message me - it's always a new damn iCloud account. Every time I see one pop up on my phone I'm like, "here we f**king go again. Also, he will email me... not only me, but he'll blow up my mom's phone. Is this normal behaviour to you?"
The model has also accused Payne's fan base, which boasts 26.1 million followers on Instagram, of being blinded by their loyalty to the singer and their affection for his former band, One Direction.
She said, "When you constantly enable someone they're never gonna realize what they've done is bad, or they do realize and they know they can get away with it, which is what has happened with him for so many years."
"Everything gets swept under the rug, everything gets hidden for him. I don't know who the hell's behind all of this but nothing ever comes out about him."
She further added, "It's hard when you have these people jumping down your throat for speaking the truth on things that have happened, and quite frankly disgusting things that have happened and disgusting things that he's done."
"He’s the one that is constantly doing weird s**t, and also might I add, he literally said the reason he has all these people on his damn Snapchat, which he has had for years apparently, and messages, is he preys on One Direction fans because they’re loyal to him," she said.
