LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Rom-com queen Meg Ryan is drawing criticism online after her fans claimed the 63-year-old actress looked unrecognizable while presenting an award at the 97th Academy Awards held on Sunday, March 2, at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, California.

While the actress had a memorable reunion with her ‘When Harry Met Sally’ co-star Billy Crystal on the stage to present the Oscar for Best Film, social media was buzzing with conversations about Ryan's changed appearance, the Daily Mail reported.

The ‘Sleepless in Seattle’ actress took the stage to present the award for the best film with Billy Crystal, 76, dressed in a maroon off-shoulder gown. 

Before announcing the winner and subsequently handing over the trophy to the ‘Anora’ team, the duo engaged in an adorable skit, with Crystal humbly bragging about how he had hosted the Oscars nine times. Ryan, nevertheless, interjected and said, “Let's cut to the chase.”

Crystal chimed in, “Because when you have a chance to be an Oscar winner for the rest of your life, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.”

While Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal’s reunion was one of the memorable aspects of the ceremony, people on social media had a lot to say about the ‘You’ve Got Mail’ actress.

Some alleged that she has changed her face through plastic surgery, while some claimed that she didn't "look like herself" and was "cute" when she was younger.

One person wrote on X, "What is with the cookie cutter plastic surgery?! Ugh. If they hadn't said this was Meg Ryan I would not have even recognized her. Such a shame."

"Certainly does not look like herself anymore," another boldly declared. 

One fan noted, "She was so beautiful when she was young. She would have had a cute face as she aged if she had just left it alone. Terribly sad."
