Meghan Markle rocks Princess Diana’s butterfly earrings that she wore nearly 40 years ago in Canada

BOGOTA, COLOMBIA: Meghan Markle was reportedly spotted wearing a pair of butterfly earnings from her mother-in-law the late, Princess Diana’s collection.

The Duchess of Sussex is currently in Colombia with her husband, Prince Harry.

Meghan Markle pays tribute to Princess Diana as she wore her earrings

Meghan Markle wore the jewelry piece nearly 40 years after Princess Diana first wore it in 1986 during her trip to Canada, Page Six reported.

Meghan donned the earrings during her visit to Colegio La Giralda school in Bogota's Santa Fe neighborhood, where she interacted with the students and participated in an art session.

The mother-of-two rocked Diana’s belongings with a white button-down blouse, a pair of black trousers, a beige coat, and matching flats.

She kept her hair and makeup simple. This wasn't the first time Meghan wore the butterfly earrings, as she reportedly first donned them in Australia in October 2018 after announcing her first pregnancy.

In September 2019, Meghan was once again seen wearing the butterfly earrings during the launch of her capsule collection of women’s workwear.

Prince Harry’s works are ‘inspired by his mum’

As per a source who spoke with Page Six in May, “Diana remains a prominent force in Harry’s life and as a result, Meghan’s. So much of his work is inspired by his mum, and it’s evident how much she still means to him.”

“A gift to his wife that once belonged to his mother is incredibly meaningful and that isn’t lost on his wife,” the source added.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are in Colombia for a four-day visit, following an invitation from Vice President Francia Marquez, who admired them in their docuseries ‘Harry & Meghan’.

“How did I get to know Meghan and Harry? I first encountered them through the media, and I particularly watched the Netflix series about their lives and their story, which deeply moved me,” she shared, as per People.

Marquez added, “It motivated me to say, 'This is a woman who deserves to visit our country and share her story,' and undoubtedly, her visit will strengthen so many women around the world.”
