LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Meghan Markle has offered a glimpse into how she is teaching her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to appreciate the value of money and hard work.

The Duchess of Sussex shared that the two young royals sell homegrown produce from their family garden at a local farmers’ market near their Montecito home.

Speaking to her friend and fellow podcaster Emma Grede on the podcast 'Aspire With Emma Grede', Meghan was asked if she had begun talking to her children about money.

She revealed a wholesome detail about their life in California, saying, “We grow a lot of veggies. We sometimes do a little farmers' market stand," Daily Mail reported.

The Duchess explained that their Montecito mansion includes a vegetable garden that the whole family tends to together.

“Gardening is really great for children. It teaches them patience, it teaches them to value and appreciate their food. So you start from seed and wait and watch it grow,” Markle said during the interview.

Once the crops are harvested, Archie and Lilibet earn pocket money by selling the produce. Meghan added she tells children, “Well, now do you want to sell your harvest? Do you want to share it with our community? And also, what do you want to do with those funds once you have them?”

She explained, “So really starting to understand, as they’re learning counting and numbers, that there is a cost and a price for things, and I think that’s key for children to understand that. Especially children who are very lucky to have a home that has privilege, you need to know that.”

She added that both she and Prince Harry believe their children must learn these life lessons early.

“It’s just like manners and taking care of the things around you, there’s a value on things, and for my husband and I, it’s really important that they understand that,” Markle said during her podcast appearance, according to Mirror.

This update comes just weeks after the 43-year-old Duchess posted a photo of the Sussex family’s beagle, Mia, sniffing a basket of fresh vegetables that appeared to be harvested from their Montecito garden.

Meghan Markle doesn’t want to miss a moment with her children during this ‘key age’

Alongside family values and gardening, Meghan Markle also talked about how she balances her business, As Ever, with parenting.

“This is such a key age. I don't want to miss a moment for my children, and I love that I can do drop off and pick up at school, and do meetings in between, and go to Disneyland for two days, as we just did. And, you know, volunteer to serve hot lunch at school or be the chaperone for the kindergarten field trip,” Meghan said.

She mentioned that she also makes their packed lunches herself and sometimes includes edible flowers from her As Ever brand.

“I love it at the end of a long day. The kids are down to bed at like 7ish. I can go downstairs, have a glass of wine, I'm doing their little lunch. I find joy in it for whatever reason, and it can be therapeutic. That, for me, is one of my simple pleasures,” she shared during the chat.
