Meghan Markle's former friend spills on her first reactions to Prince Harry's romance

Lizzie Cundy recalled, "When I heard about Harry, I said, 'What a catch,' and she said, 'Yeah I know,'" according to The Mirror

Addressing the common criticism of Meghan being a "social climber," the TV personality said, "You want to be someone people look up to, and you are proud to be on the arm of."

She praised her former friend’s choice, saying, "Good for her, she's had the catch of the century."

Prince Harry and Meghan sparked romance in early 2016 after meeting on a blind date set up by a mutual friend. They confirmed their relationship in November 2016.

Cundy further shared, "We both had had breakups and a bit of a past, and she was asking lots of questions about mine."

Meghan had been living in Vancouver, Canada, but Cundy explained that the Duchess of Sussex found London more exciting, saying, "We chatted a bit about Vancouver, that it was so away from everything and there wasn't much to do there. That's why she loved London. I could see the stars in her eyes."

Meghan Markle always wanted a British boyfriend

Recalling their first meeting at a dinner party in 2013 where they were seated side by side, Lizzie Cundy said they instantly hit it off, bonding over shared experiences and recent breakups.

Meghan, as Cundy shared, was interested in finding a British boyfriend and enjoying London's social scene, mingling with notable figures and even the cast of 'Made in Chelsea'.

According to Cundy, the 'Suits' actress had said, "She wanted to find a boyfriend, she said British, I asked if she wanted someone famous, she said, 'Yeah, why not!'"

The socialite's candor about Meghan's romantic pursuits and social ambitions may have contributed to the eventual end of their friendship.

Among all these revelations, Cundy admitted she felt "ghosted" once Meghan became more involved with Harry and her newfound royal status.

Meghan Markle and Lizzie Cundy managed to avoid an awkward reunion at a Los Angeles charity gala

Lizzie Cundy and Meghan Markle crossed paths for the first time in a while at the 2024 Los Angeles Children's Hospital charity gala. Coincidentally, both were dressed in red for the occasion.

While the Duchess of Sussex rewore a Carolina Herrera bustier column gown, Cundy went for a Pia Michi dress with beaded details. Both put on a leggy display, thanks to the high slits in their dresses.

Speaking to GB News after the event, Cundy sarcastically said, "I bet she was delighted to see me."

She added, "It's the event to be seen at. I was hoping she would do something for the charity, maybe do a speech, but it appeared she was just there for the photo-op."
