LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Meghan Markle was “hugely tempted” to attend the Met Gala, but allegedly thought against it as the occasion clashed with her elder son Prince Archie’s birthday.

Speaking to The Mirror, royal author and commentator Tom Quinn revealed that the Duchess of Sussex is drawn to such “glitzy” events and probably had thought twice before declining the invitation.

Tom Quinn says Meghan Markle was ‘tempted’ to go to the Met Gala

Quinn propagated the idea that had it not been for Archie’s birthday, the former ‘Suits’ actress might have gone to the Met Gala. The young royal turned five on Monday, May 6.

The royal commentator further added that the Met Gala invite could have been something she thought twice as hobnobbing with the elite would have worked as a boost to her newly launched lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard.

Quinn recently shared with The Mirror, "Meghan was hugely tempted to go to the Met Gala. She loves this kind of big, glitzy event, especially as it’s held to raise money for charity, and with the launch of her new online brand, she needs all the publicity she can get.”

The author claimed, "She may no longer be a working actor, but she’s addicted to mixing with celebrities – that's why she lives in Montecito next door to Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom and a host of other A-listers.”

“The glamour associated with being a celebrity in the States has always been something Meghan can’t do without and an event such as the Met Gala is almost too tempting to resist,” added the commentator.

It was speculated earlier that the mother-of-two decided to miss the charity event to celebrate her son’s birthday. It is thought that Archie celebrated his birthday with his parents Prince Harry and Meghan and sister Princess Lilibet.

The royal commentator further offered insights into royal birthdays at Prince Harry’s household, saying, "When it comes to her children's birthdays, Meghan is almost obsessed with the idea that they should be quiet, very private affairs, with simple games, a birthday cake and ice cream.”

He also shared that "Archie is a real live-wire who loves rushing around at top speed so there will also be blind man’s bluff and tag among other games.”

He explained, “Meghan combines a deep sense of her own global importance in the wider world with a desire to make her children experience what she sees as the more ordinary things in life.”

He speculated, "So, for Archie's birthday, there will be friends from school, Meghan‘s mother Doria Ragland and one or two celebrities – any celebrity neighbour with a child the same age, and that includes actors Katie Perry and Orlando Bloom and their daughter Daisy – will definitely be invited."
