Meghan Markle ‘wears the pants’ in marriage to Prince Harry as he loves ‘being told what to do’, says pal
MONTECITO, CALIFORNIA: Prince Harry's transition from royal duties to civilian life has often been under the spotlight, with many blaming Meghan Markle for his much-criticized move to California.
However, according to Harry's friend who was with him at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Meghan might be exactly what the Duke of Sussex had sought in a partner. The source claimed Meghan "wears the pants" in the marriage while Harry "loves being told what to do".
Prince Harry loves 'being told what to do'
“He loved being ordered about and told what to do,” the friend said, per OK Magazine.
“He was quite good at being in the military and really liked it. He especially liked being told what to do.”
Prince Harry's time at Sandhurst, where he trained to become an officer in the British Army, revealed more about his personality.
“He was a good guy actually. We all liked him. It was funny though — he did like to be the center of attention. If he wasn’t getting enough he would do something ‘wacky’ to get it until all eyes were back on him,” the source added.
While Prince Harry thrived in the structured environment of the military, his life in California paints a different picture.
Settling into Markle's home state, the couple has received both praise and criticism for carving out their path.
“It’s sad he’s no longer talking to his family — but I can’t say I’m surprised," the friend reflected.
"Again, he liked a firm hand and he found Meghan. She’s clearly wearing the pants in the family and is the driving force so, really, she’s perfect for him.”
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s rumored professional split
Meanwhile, the Sussexes’ professional life has been under scrutiny of late.
Royal biographer Angela Levin discussed rumors of a potential professional split between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, questioning their dynamics.
"All of the conversations were very negative, he was very sad about a lot of things, saying we've got to change the world, but actually what he means, I think, is that he wants to change his own world," Levin reportedly told GB News.
She speculated further, suggesting that Markle might be pulling away from Prince Harry professionally.
“So you have to work out why has this happened — was Meghan fed up with him to get rid of him for ten days? Are they really just going to divide their work? What actually is the reason?”
Levin went on to claim, "My own feeling is that this is the beginning of the end. Because once she finds that she's okay on her own, then she's satisfied."
"As we've seen throughout her life, she drops people when she no longer needs them, and I think that will be what happens around the corner."
The Sussexes’ strained relationship with Donald Trump
On the professional front, despite attempts to establish themselves in Hollywood, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have faced challenges, with some critics labeling their efforts as "flop".
Additionally, royal historian Richard Fitzwilliams weighed in on the tension between the Sussexes and Donald Trump, telling GB News, "There's no doubt that this is a pretty toxic issue, but I can't see that the future administration would want to be involved in problems with the British royal family, which obviously would occur if this happened."
Fitzwilliams highlighted the strained relationship, adding, "The Sussexes and Donald Trump do not see eye to eye. He has called Meghan nasty, she called him misogynistic and divisive."
Harry appears to be shifting his focus toward philanthropy.
“What Harry seems to be doing is focusing on philanthropy,” royal editor Richard Eden observed.
“His most successful projects, the ones that resonate the most with people are the ones that were set up when he was a working royal – so the Invictus Games, his patronage of WellChild for example.”
Prince Harry's recent appearances, such as his lively stint on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon', showcased a glimpse of his old self.
"I think if he was very popular, he would be very positive with the way he talks about the charities. The thing that we saw that was very popular was when he was with Jimmy Fallon, taking on the haunted maze," Angela Levin said, referring to Prince Harry's appearance on the late-night talk show.
Levin reflected on Harry's joy during a haunted maze segment on the show, saying, “There we saw the original Harry. He was laughing, he was enjoying himself, he was as happy as can be. He's gone back to being a teenager and enjoying himself."
