Meghan McCain ‘absolutely heartbroken’ after GOP slashes funding for research into late dad’s disease

WASHINGTON, DC: Meghan McCain recently expressed her disappointment over the Donald Trump-led government’s decision to cut funding to research glioblastoma, the brain cancer that led to her father and late GOP senator John McCain's death.
In a now-deleted tweet, she shared, “My fellow republicans - this is wrong. I am absolutely heartbroken at the news that funding for brain cancer research has been completely cut from NIH,” the Daily Beast reported.
Meghan said that her father, who died in 2018, “and millions of others have been treated there for Glioblastoma and other brain cancers with miracle doctors and nurses.”

Meghan McCain says ‘cancer research’ funding is needed
“Those of us who are part of the brain cancer community are mourning today. America and NIH have always been a beacon of hope for those of us praying for a cure,” Meghan McCain said.
“Some government spending is needed and appropriate—cancer research is one of them. I am heartbroken by this,” the former host of 'The View' added.
McCain’s post came after it was reported that President Donald Trump signed a bill permitting a 57% funding cut to the Defense Department’s Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP), which gives money for research into several cancers at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
The publication reported that $860 million was cut off, resulting in $185 million taken from cancer programs.
Internet says cutting cancer research funding is ‘cruel’
Meanwhile, many people replied to Meghan McCain on X (formerly Twitter) and slammed the "cruel" Republicans for cutting funding for cancer research.
An X user wrote, “As always, Republicans only understand this stuff when it affects them personally.”

Another remarked, “This is devastating. Cancer research isn’t partisan, it’s human. Cutting it isn’t just bad policy, it’s cruel.”

She’s delusional!
Someone else declared, “I know it will sound very wrong for many, but I think she is being a bit selfish. If you know what I mean. Let me explain why. While I am all in for scientific research and funding of this I think she was only moved when Trump hurt her cause. She doesn’t give a f**k about other research Trump cut.”
