NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Conservative commentator Megyn Kelly engaged comedian Bill Maher in a heated discussion on the subject of election denialism during her appearance on the Friday, October 25 episode of the latter's show, 'Real Time'.

Kelly and Maher are backing opposing candidates in the upcoming election, with her endorsing GOP nominee and former president Donald Trump and Maher supporting Democratic nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris.

While Maher asserted that Trump would claim the election was rigged if he lost in November, Kelly hit back saying that the same would be true for his opponent, as she accused 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton of being "the original election denier."

Bill Maher predicted Donald Trump's reaction to the election results, telling Kelly, "I mean, he’s only going to say one of two things about loss. If he loses, there’s only healing with the say it was rigged or it was the most perfect, beautiful election ever."

"Well, don’t think there won’t be denialism if Kamala Harris loses,” replied Kelly.

As the host tried to argue that "it won’t be the same,” Kelly continued, "Okay, But there’s going to be. I mean, they’re already laying the foundation for lawfare, or we’re going to be stuck in this election one way or the other, no matter who wins, for weeks."

“Well, there’s no evidence of that. Democrats have never done that. They’ve conceded,” Maher tried to counter, but Kelly interjected and said that they have had the same argument in the past on her show.

"Hillary Clinton is the original election denier," she stated.

Maher refused to agree and added, "Come on, man! It’s different grumbling. Yes, they grumbled when they shouldn’t, and maybe it goes over the line. There’s a difference between grumbling about something and actually trying to overturn it like he did. I mean, you know this. Why do we have to go through this?”

“Legal challenges in response to an election, which is what Trump did, and he lost and he did wind up leaving office. I’m not going to defend his behavior on January 6th. I never have,” shared Kelly.

“And I’m not going to start tonight. But if you don’t think there’s going to be denialism on the Dem side, you have been paying attention to what’s been happening on that side for these years,” she added.

Megyn Kelly slammed for calling Hillary Clinton 'original election denier'

Netizens took to X and predominantly slammed Megyn Kelly over her stance on Donald Trump's reaction to losing the election in November and accusing Hillary Clinton of being the "original election denier".

"Clinton never denied the election. She conceded as soon as it was called," wrote a social media user.

"This entire election is about false equivalences," shared another.

"I wonder if she even realizes how f’ing ridiculous she sounds?" asked one person.

"@megynkelly is doing her best to stay relevant and in doing so, she’s lost all credibility. Not that there was much left to lose. DJT was horrible to her and now she’s acting as if he’s some great white savior. Megyn Kelly is a fool," expressed another.

"Oh look, a Republican projecting. How surprising," wrote one person.
