WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Conservative commentator Megyn Kelly asked "how many times" Donald Trump and his followers would have to witness attempts on the life of the former president and GOP nominee while covering the second apparent assassination attempt on him on Sunday, September 15.

Ryan Wesley Routh, a 58-year-old from Hawaii, was reportedly arrested for allegedly trying to take out Trump while he was playing the fifth hole at his Florida golf club at around 1.30 pm ET.

Secret Service spotted him in the bushes outside the fences, armed with a scoped assault rifle, and immediately engaged him.

Though Routh managed to escape the scene, he was spotted getting into his car by an observer and was captured while traveling north on I-95 toward Martin County.

The incident took place roughly two months after Trump faced gunfire speaking at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, back in July, where a bullet managed to graze his right ear.

Megyn Kelly's remarks on Donald Trump's assassination attempt

The former Fox News anchor, who hosted a special episode of her podcast 'The Megyn Kelly Show' on Sirius XM to discuss Sunday's events, appeared distraught for Trump, fearing for his life.

Kelly stated that the most pressing thought in her mind was that "the former president is safe at this hour, but how many times is this man going to have to go through this? How many times are we going to have to go through this?”

"I'm worried he's going to get killed," she shared.

She also lambasted the Secret Service for not doing a proper job of protecting Trump, stating, "They already had a warning… and a man lost his life in their ‘mulligan.' They got complacent again… just two months later… It is inexcusable.”

Kelly was referring to the person who was shot dead at the fateful Trump rally in Pennsylvania in July.

"How can they stop it unless they treat him like he is the current President and respond accordingly with Secret Service assets," Kelly surmised. "Trump is going to get killed, and I have nothing but concern and love and empathy for his family having to deal with that fact right now."

Internet demands more security for Trump

Netizens, especially conservatives, reacting to Kelly's take on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) slammed the left over the incident and called for more security for the former president. The following tweets demonstrate their takes.

"More security for the love of god," wrote a user.

"The national media and radical left wing are blaming him for their hate when they are trying to eliminate him in any way as possible," stated another.

"Donald Trump wears the biggest bullseye on the planet," shared a third.

"Everyone whose violent rhetoric that has led (Routh) to this needs to be removed from office and investigated," commented a fourth.

"Politics should not be this way. It’s just too crazy," expressed a fifth.
