ARLINGTON, TEXAS: Boxing legend Mike Tyson's coach has opened up saying they were anticipating his win in the highly anticipated fight with YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

Tyson faced a tough defeat against Jake in an eight-round fight at AT&T Stadium on Friday, November 15.

The 58-year-old former heavyweight champion, Mike Tyson, struggled to match the energy of his 31-years-younger opponent, Jake Paul.

Tyson landed just 18 punches out of 97 attempts, while Jake delivered 78 punches, securing a unanimous decision in front of a packed Dallas crowd.

Speaking after the fight, Tyson’s trainer Rafael Cordeiro revealed the hard work the team put in and their high hopes going into the bout.

"We worked for seven months for this moment. I truly believed we had this victory before the fight," said Cordeiro, Daily Mail reported. 

Jake Paul says he did not want to hurt Mike Tyson

Despite the defeat, Rafael Cordeiro praised Mike Tyson’s dedication, highlighting his tireless training efforts.

"He never asked to give up. We are really proud of Mike, the way he trained for seven months; he put his life aside for training," the trainer said.

"He's the people's champ. He's inspired many people outside of the ring. The most important thing is that Mike is going back home to his loved ones," added Cordeiro.

Jake, reflecting on his victory, shared that he intentionally avoided inflicting unnecessary harm on Tyson during the fight.

"Yeah definitely. Definitely a bit. I wanted to give the fans a show, but I didn't want to hurt someone that didn't need to be hurt," said Jake.

Jake Paul’s brother, Logan Paul, said "I think Jake let him live," after his victory.

He added, "He's tough, proud of him, weathered the storm against a young brute named Jake Paul."

During his post-fight interview in the ring, Tyson was asked about his plans moving forward.

Playfully, he mentioned a possible matchup against Logan.

"I don't know, maybe his brother," said Tyson, referring to Jake's brother.

However, Logan quickly dismissed the idea of fighting Tyson, stating, "No! I think he wants money; I don't think he wants to fight me."
