Miranda Lambert has the ‘perfect’ response as ex Blake Shelton’s ‘God Gave Me You’ is played on podcast

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Miranda Lambert proved that she is no longer holding a grudge against her ex-husband Blake Shelton after she had the “perfect” reply to an awkward moment. 

Lambert, 40, recently appeared on Theo Von’s ‘This Past Weekend’ podcast where she dished out some of the interesting stories from her life, including her rise to fame and her meeting with Gypsy Rose Blanchard. 

However, at one point when Theo cued up the song ‘God Gave Me You’ by Miranda’s ex, things took an interesting turn.

Miranda Lambert’s ‘perfect’ response to Blake Shelton’s song

As Miranda Lambert and Theo Von chatted about Casey Kasem’s radio show ‘American Top 40’ and subsequently about ‘Cryin’, Lovin’ Or Leavin’ Show’, they wanted to explore more about it. 

While looking for it online, Theo asked his producer if he could play a random clip from the hit radio show that took up song requests from callers. 

As it turned out, when searched online, the first clip that came up was a video from a decade ago with a caller requesting the song ‘God Gave Me You’ by Shelton, per Holler.

The 2011 song, was composed by Shelton over a decade ago, and Lambert had danced to it during his marriage to Lambert in the same year. Following a marriage of four years, the couple had a high-profile split in 2015. 

 

However, the ‘Hell on Heels’ singer is no longer holding a grudge against her ex. 

When Lambert realized the song requested by the caller on the post was her ex-husband’s song and the first song they danced to as a married couple, she broke out in laughter. 

Lambert said while laughing loudly, “Perfect one to pick, by the way!”

She continued, “Perfect. Perfect. That is so perfect!”

Though she found it to be hilarious, Theo was caught off guard and said, “There’s no way… Miranda I swear to God, we did not pick that on purpose.”

He further clarified, “I had no idea we would talk about that," per Whiskeyriff.

However, Lambert had no qualms about it as the Grammy-winning singer continued laughing while sharing her story. 

She shared, “My first wedding song, guys, let’s play that! We just manifested all of that… we’re crying, love and leaving now, bye! None left. We need to do a new spinoff of it.”

Though she had a messy divorce with the ‘God’s Country’ singer, Lambert has put that episode behind with both of them moving on with their respective current partners. 

While Lambert tied the knot with Brendan McLoughlin in 2019, Shelton got married to Gwen Stefani back in 2021.
