SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: Nancy Pelosi opened up about the horrifying attack on her husband, Paul Pelosi, and expressed her disgust over the cruel jokes made by Donald Trump and other Republicans regarding the incident during a recent appearance on 'The View', as per HuffPost.

On October 28, 2022, a Canadian right-wing conspiracy theorist, David DePape, broke into the couple's San Francisco home, where he held Paul hostage and viciously assaulted him with a hammer, leading to grave injuries, including a fractured skull.

DePape’s intent was reportedly to interrogate Nancy, who was in Washington, DC, at the time of the attack. The former House speaker's absence spared her from potential violence, but the trauma inflicted on her family was profound.

The perpetrator was convicted of the federal charges in November 2023, and in May of this year, he was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

On 'The View', Nancy Pelosi discussed the lasting emotional and psychological impact of the attack, not only on her family but also on other political families who face threats of violence.

The Speaker Emerita told the panelists, "Getting hit on the head three times is a horrible thing. And that was physical. But the traumatic effect for him, for us, for the family, but also for other political families as well, to just families in America, violence has no place in any resolution of any discussion you may have."

Nancy went on to express her disbelief that anyone, particularly political figures, would find humor in such a violent event. Her frustration was aimed squarely at Trump, who has made several jokes about the attack in the past two years, continuing to mock her husband’s suffering.

The GOP nominee has repeatedly made light of the violent assault on Paul, using it as a punchline in various speeches and public remarks.

Most recently, during an appearance at the Fraternal Order of Police's fall meeting in North Carolina, the former president once again mocked the incident in front of an audience of law enforcement officers.

"Nancy Pelosi has a big wall wrapped around her house. Of course, it didn’t help too much with the problems she had, did it?" quipped Trump during his speech, drawing laughter from the crowd.

Despite his repeated digs, Nancy chose not to mention Trump by name during her appearance on 'The View'. However, her contempt for his behavior was evident as she described her disgust with how Republicans, including Trump, continue to joke about the attack.

"Before you could even say anything, your friend — who shall remain nameless — he was on there making a joke of it, and people were laughing, and his family was making a joke, and Republican governor making jokes and that. And that’s just horrible. It’s sick. It’s really sick," stated the California lawmaker, visibly upset.

Internet joins Nancy Pelosi in bashing Donald Trump

Netizens were in tune with Nancy Pelosi when it came to condemning Donald Trump for making light of the horrifying incident.

Former President Donald Trump listens as his attorney Todd Blanche speaks during a press conference at 40 Wall Street after a pre-trial hearing on March 25, 2024 in New York City. Judge Juan Merchan scheduled Trump's criminal trial to begin on April 15, which would make it the first criminal prosecution of a former American president. Trump was charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records last year, which prosecutors say was an effort to hide a potential sex scandal, both before and after the 2016 election.
