CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA: A national coalition of police unions was thrashed online for endorsing Donald Trump during a recent North Carolina rally despite him being a convicted felon.

In the last week of May, the Republican nominee became the first former president to be convicted of a felony when he was found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records to cover up a $130,000 hush money payment made to Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election.

The sentencing, which had been set for July 11, was delayed until September 18. Each of the charges carries a maximum of four years in prison.

Trump also has been charged with election subversion in Georgia and Washington, DC, for allegedly attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

NAPO President Michael McHale endorses Donald Trump

Despite this, during his campaign rally in Charlotte, North Carolina, on July 24, Michael McHale, the president of the National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO) endorsed Donald Trump, saying, "We are proud and pleased to support your campaign and we are here for anything, anything that you ever may need," as per Raw Story.

McHale, whose organization represents over 241,000 police officers, also noted, "The violence we are seeing in these and other cities isn’t happening by chance; it’s the direct result of elected leaders refusing to allow law enforcement to protect our communities."

At the same rally, Trump blasted Vice President Kamala Harris, his probable opponent in the presidential race, claiming, "Kamala Harris has been the ultra-liberal driving force behind every single Biden catastrophe."

The 78-year-old MAGA leader added, "This November, the American people are going to tell her, 'No thanks, Kamala. You’ve done a terrible job. You’ve been terrible at everything.'"

Internet slams National Association of Police Organizations for endorsing Donald Trump

Netizens were baffled as the president of the National Association of Police Organizations endorsed Donald Trump during his Charlotte campaign rally.

'On Democracy with FPWellman' host Fred Wellman remarked, "A convicted felon whose insurrection sent 149 cops to the hospital."

Another noted, "I wonder how many police officers disagree with Mick Mchale," and a person asked, "Is that a real association, or one Trump created?"

An individual said, "Disgusting no wonder police have no respect," while someone else declared, "Every single police officer that supports Trump should have their arrest record reviewed. They no longer stand on the side of justice. They no longer believe in the rule of law."

One more expressed, "This is a disgrace! Aren’t the Police supposed to uphold the Law and be the good guys? @real_NAPO2023 Is This organization Legit?"

"This would make way too clear they want to be utterly indemnified for ANYTHING they do as Trump promised. This is chilling to the bone. You don't need that if you don't DO what comes into question," echoed another person.

A netizen wrote, "If I were a member of this organization, I would drop my membership. He's a traitor to law and order and swearing allegiance to a convicted felon."

A netizen mentioned, "I will never, ever, defend police again. Yes, I know there are some good ones. But as an institution, this proves they are fundamentally rotten at the core. The corruption goes right to the top."

"Every year, the US police become less and less about ‘protect and serve’, and more and more about being an occupying military force," declared one more.
