NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: On Wednesday, December 20, 2023, former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich cautioned that Democrats were “dangerously close” to triggering a disastrous confrontation in the aftermath of the Colorado Supreme Court's decision to remove ex-president Donald Trump from the state's ballot.

Gingrich appeared on ‘The Ingraham Angle’ to discuss Trump's recent exclusion from Colorado's 2024 ballot, a move justified by the state's Supreme Court citing a violation of the 14th Amendment's "insurrectionist ban."

Fox News host Laura Ingraham took to X (formerly Twitter) to share her interview with Gingrich and what the former House speaker had to say about the Democrats.

However, the internet did not respond positively to Gingrich’ remarks and several X users took a brutal jab at him, calling him “irrelevancy”.

Fox News host Laura Ingraham took to X and wrote, “Newt Gingrich: What you now have is basically a fascist Democratic Party who believe in government control, government domination.”

Gingrich appeared on ‘The Ingraham Angle’ to discuss Trump’s removal from the Colorado state ballot where the Supreme Court ruled that he violated 14th Amendment’s “insurrectionist ban”.

During the interview, Ingraham questioned Gingrich whether people would move on if the US Supreme Court opted not to “correct the issue”.

Gingrich said, “No, I think this is potentially a catastrophe. 1,360,000 Coloradans voted for Donald Trump in the last election. Four lawyers want to block him from being on the ballot — that means basically, for every 340,000 Coloradans who voted for Trump, one lawyer is stopping him. That’s a system of establishment arrogance. That’s not sustainable.”

He continued, “The last great effort like this was the 10 states that refused to put Abraham Lincoln on the ballot in 1860. The American people are not going to tolerate — and I hope the Supreme Court fully understands this.”

Gingrich asserted that the American people would not "tolerate" directives on who they can or cannot vote for, underscoring historical instances in other countries where election challenges have arisen.

Gingrich further explained, “The American people are not going to tolerate being told that they’re not allowed to have a choice for who they want to have as president. This is not Venezuela. It’s not Nicaragua. It’s not Cuba. And I think the Democrats are dangerously close to causing the kind of confrontation that would be truly disastrous for the country.”

On Tuesday night, the Colorado Supreme Court issued a 4-3 decision to remove Trump from the state's ballot.

Despite the former president not facing any convictions related to the January 6 events, the judges argued that the riot constituted an insurrection in which Trump was purportedly "engaged."

Trump's campaign team has committed to a prompt appeal to the US Supreme Court.

The national court has until January 4 to render a decision before the state's ballot certification deadline on the following day.

Internet dubs Newt Gingrich ‘irrelevant’

After Laura Ingraham shared her interview with Newt Gingrich who called Donald Trump’s removal from Colorado ballot a catastrophe, several people on the internet brutally slammed the former House speaker.

One person wrote, “From the guy who is literally the biggest fascist in America. This is rich,” while another said, “This is total garbage.”

An X user slammed Gingrich and wrote, “Newt's in rapid decline,” while another had a similar thought, “Newt is irrelevant.”

One more person called out Gingrich and wrote, “Did you drag him out from the old folks home to blabber on again, Laura? Nobody cares what he thinks.”

Another took a brutal jab and said, “Newt is the reason a lot of conservatives don’t vote Republican, he’s a 50 year DC thug that has done nothing for the people of this country just like most of the DC mafia.”
