Nicki Minaj blasts Jay-Z for choosing Kendrick Lamar over Lil Wayne as Super Bowl LIX Halftime performer

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Nicki Minaj is not one to mince words, and her latest target is none other than Jay-Z.

The Queen Barb joined the growing chorus of critics slamming the hip-hop mogul for awarding the Super Bowl LIX halftime honors to Kendrick Lamar instead of New Orleans' own Lil Wayne.

Nicki Minaj unleashed a barrage of fiery accusations on X against Jay-Z that have only fanned the flames of an already heated debate.

"Denying a young Black man what he rightfully put into this game for no other reason but your ego," she wrote. "Your hatred for BIRDMAN, Drake & Nicki got you punishing Lil Wayne?!?!!"

"LIL WAYNE!!!!!! THE GOAT ?!!!!!!! Nola what's good?!!!!!! Eminem stood firm on having 50 Cent come out. A White man. S**t sad. House n****r tingz. But it's GOOD FI DEM!!!!!! No loyalty? Well Then n****z will keep son'ing you!!!!"

To Minaj, Jay-Z’s actions reek of betrayal, going so far as to call him out as a  "hateful and ugly" person, per TMZ.

Minaj is among the many artists who have seemingly called out Jay-Z—who’s the co-producer of the Super Bowl halftime show—for selecting Lamar as the performer for Super Bowl LIX over Lil Wayne, blaming rap feuds for the supposed snub.

Master P, DJ Akademiks, and, most recently, Boosie Badazz have all stepped up to defend Wayne, accusing Jay-Z of harboring a lingering vendetta against Drake. Drake's public feud with Lamar is well-known, and Wayne and Drake are friends.

For the other artists, Jay-Z’s choice feels less like a nod to Lamar's artistry and more like a deliberate snub against Lil Wayne—and by extension, Drake.

Nicki Minaj's beef with Jay-Z explained

Nicki Minaj's loyalty to Lil Wayne is well-documented; she’s been an unwavering supporter since her 'Young Money' days, ready to ride for her mentor.

But this clash with Jay-Z goes deeper than just allegiance to Wayne. Minaj has her own grievances with Jay-Z, rooted in her ongoing beef with Megan Thee Stallion, a Roc Nation artist. Roc Nation is Jay-Z's agency.

Their feud, which Minaj labels as “women business", is far from over, and it’s clear that Jay-Z’s involvement only adds fuel to the fire.

According to Variety, their beef brewed when Minaj released 'Big Foot” in response to Megan Thee Stallion’s 'Hiss', which seemingly referenced Minaj's husband Kenneth Petty's legal issues.

In true Minaj fashion, she took it a step further, calling on New Orleans residents to "do the right thing" and urging them to rally behind their hometown hero, Lil Wayne.

For his part, Jay-Z defended his choice, praising Lamar as a "once-in-a-generation artist and performer".
