LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Nicole Scherzinger received backlash on social media on Thursday evening, November 7, after she left a now-deleted comment on an Instagram post by Russell Brand which featured the actor-comedian in a red hat with the words "Make Jesus First Again".

Nicole Scherzinger asks for MAGA-like headgear on Russell Brand's post

Russell Brand, 49, was seen triumphantly wearing a red hat with the words "Make Jesus First Again" on it, in a photo that was posted only hours before the US presidential election. He captioned the post, saying: "God Bless America".

In the comments, Nicole Scherzinger, 46, expressed her fondness for the MAGA-like headgear by writing, "Where do I get this hat!!!?" alongside the red heart and prayer hands emojis.

In a 2019 interview with The Guardian, Scherzinger said that she attends church many times a week, indicating that she was raised Catholic.

However, her response to an image linked to Trump's "Make America Great Again" slogan and iconic red hat campaign attire sparked outrage from many followers, a day after the Republican nominee defeated Kamala Harris in the presidential election.

Although the Pussycat Dolls singer has not openly supported any politician and doesn't appear to have "liked" Brand's photo, her fondness for the hat infuriated some Instagram users, per Daily Mail.

Scherzinger, who currently appears in Broadway’s new production 'Sunset Blvd', swiftly attracted criticism on social media from users who believed it was a subtle endorsement of Trump.

Nicole Scherzinger's apparent Donald Trump connection infuriates fans

Nicole Scherzinger's remark began trending on X (formerly Twitter) and swiftly garnered unfavorable attention on social media, where she was accused of subtly endorsing Trump.

One X user slammed the Pussycat Dolls singer and wrote, "How u on broadway and support trump."

A second user said, "Nicole Scherzinger being a Trump supporting Jesus freak... thank god I haven't seen Sunset Blvd yet."

A third user added, "Well I always knew Nicole Scherzinger was a born again Christian - I was ready to overlook that particular flaw …… But a Trump supporter??? Baby girl no! This makes no sense."

"When you find out Nicole Scherzinger is a Trump supporter," chimed in one.

One user posted a lengthy comment saying, "Nicole Scherzinger really thought it was a great idea to come out as a Trump supporter? When she's literally on the verge of a Tony nomination. Broadway is run by gay and trans people. After a flop attempt of a solo career, she finally found her niche and ruins it."

"Finding out Nicole Scherzinger is a Trump supporter and fan of Russel Brand has ruined my entire life actually," quipped one.
