WASHINGTON, DC: Sen Ted Cruz (R-Texas) praised Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La) as a “strong” conservative and criticized Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene's (R-Ga) attempt to oust him as “silly.”

During his Thursday appearance on RealClearPolitics’s radio show, Cruz said, “I think it is silly. I think it is seriously counterproductive.”

“I think Mike Johnson is a strong conservative who has been given an almost impossible task. He has a tiny majority in the House, just a two-vote majority,” he continued.

“That means any three House members run off to the hills, and then the majority evaporates,” the Republican senator explained.

What else did Ted Cruz say during his recent radio appearance?

Sen Ted Cruz claimed that Greene's initiative, which began in March and is expected to be discussed on the House floor the following week, increases the possibility that "chaos" will break out in the lower house leading to Democrats seizing control, according to The Hill.

“And I think Marjorie Taylor Greene, to try to topple the Speaker increases the chances of chaos, it increases the chances of handing control to the Democrats,” Cruz asserted.

“And there is zero chance a more conservative speaker will result, so I think what she’s doing is really unhelpful to the country,” he added.

Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene's (R-Ga) initiative to scrutinize the performance of House GOP Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La) has garnered support from Reps Thomas Massie (R-Ky) and Paul Gosar (R-Ariz).

The MAGA-aligned congresswoman is determined to gauge the voting records of legislators to identify their stance towards Johnson's leadership of the lower chamber.

Hardline conservatives, despite their dissatisfaction with Johnson's bipartisan collaborations, plan to postpone submitting a motion to vacate until six months before the 2024 general election.

Democrats have conveyed their preparedness to intervene and support Johnson in order to uphold stability in the House.

However, they anticipate that this approach may not be sustained consistently.

Internet reacts as Ted Cruz slams MTG

One X user remarked, "MTG has lost it I think she must be a Chinese and Russian plant."

Another user wrote, "Maybe Ted Cruz should be more concerned about the Senate & McConnell's Leadership, instead of the House."

Another user said, "Why don't House Republicans vote to have RINO Marjorie Taylor Greene expelled from Congress she is Not a serious legislator. The Republican Party needs to return to the Reagan Conservative Principles it once stood for and rid itself of the MAGA extremists that have taken over."

One user claimed, "If a party preaches division and selfishness between the nation's population, it often comes back to haunt them as internal division and selfishness. How many speakers have we been through now? #MAGA #Congress #GOP"

Another X user quipped, "The never-ending circus is the republicans." [sic]

Finally, this user tweeted, "Rafael, you might be right here, but you’re also incredibly silly. @tedcruz"
