Outrage as Elon Musk's mother Maye Musk allegedly encourages followers to commit voter fraud
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Tech Mogul Elon Musk's mother, Maye Musk, allegedly promoted her followers to commit a federal crime, prompting social media users to alert the FBI of "voter fraud."
The SpaceX CEO, before his appearance at a campaign rally with former president Donald Trump on Saturday, October 5, took to his social media platform X (formerly Twitter), reminding everyone to cast their voters ahead of the registration deadline.
His 76-year-old mother took the reminder even further on X, encouraging voters to cast more than one vote, which is illegal.
Elon Musk's mother Maye Musk tells voters to vote '10 times'
The Democrats have given us another option. You don’t have to register to vote. On Election Day, have 10 fake names, go to 10 polling booths and vote 10 times. That’s 100 votes, and it’s not illegal. Maybe we should work the system too. https://t.co/GZ5DlaoFPs

"Super important to get all your friends and family to register to vote. Georgia’s registration deadline is Monday!!" Elon wrote on October 5.
In response to this, Maye claimed that the Democrats had given another option.
"You don’t have to register to vote. On Election Day, have 10 fake names, go to 10 polling booths and vote 10 times. That's 100 votes, and it's not illegal. Maybe we should work the system too," she wrote.
Community notes flagged the post, stating her suggestion was "illegal."
Maye's controversial remarks came ahead of her son joining Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, for a rally where the latter survived an assassination attempt in July. At the packed rally, the tech giant danced on the stage wearing an all-black outfit along with a MAGA hat.
The Tesla CEO, who endorsed Trump after the first assassination attempt, urged the crowd to vote for the real estate mogul, claiming only his victory would "preserve" the Constitution and democracy of America.
Consequences of voting twice in election
Voting more than once in a federal election is deemed illegal under federal law, according to which the voter would be fined "not more than $10,000" and would face imprisonment "not more than five years, or both."
The nonpartisan research group, National Conference of State Legislatures' database, shows that at least 28 states classify voting twice in the same election as a felony. Penalties change from state to state, with some including jail time.
For example, in Pennsylvania, anyone voting more than once could face a penalty of up to $ 15,000 and/or up to seven years in prison.
Internet demands for FBI to take action against Maye Musk

"@FBIWFO @FBI this person seems to be advocating for people to commit voter fraud on a large scale. They are also misinforming by claiming it is legal to do so. Please note for post election follow up," a user wrote.
"Federal crime, right here," another remarked.
