LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Patrick Mahomes, the three-time Super Bowl MVP, revealed what his teammate Travis Kelce said to the Kansas City Chiefs team before their thrilling overtime win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, February 11.
Patrick Mahomes says Travis Kelce’s speech was ‘pure emotion’
Patrick Mahomes, who threw for 333 yards and touchdowns, said that Kelce gave a passionate and emotional speech to the players and coaches that had them in tears.
He said it was an "amazing" and "real serious" speech. "Pure emotion. You can’t fake the amount of emotion that man has,’” Mahomes told 'The Pat McAfee Show' on Tuesday, February 13, according to US Sun.
“[Kelce] had people tearing up.” Mahomes also said that he and defensive lineman Chris Jones, who forced the 49ers to a field goal in overtime, had speeches before the game, but Kelce’s was the most impactful.
Travis Kelce told players you never know when you'll get back to play the big game
Patrick Mahomes revealed Travis kept his speech "short and sweet." He told them guys "We're here for a reason" and "You never know when you'll get back" to playing in the big game.
Mahomes, who earned his second consecutive Super Bowl MVP, enjoyed the aftermath of the Chiefs’ 25-22 win at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
He appeared on 'Good Morning America' on Monday, February 12, with his wife Brittany and their two children at Disneyland in California.
Mahomes also joined the team parade with millions of fans in Kansas City on Wednesday, February 14. However his wife Brittany Mahomes, shortly before attending the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade, posted a photo on her Instagram Story refueling with an IV drip after a few days of partying.
"Saving me always," she wrote, tagging the co-owner of Gen 3 IV, a local IV hydration and wellness company. People speculated that she would have been trying to get back on her feet to quickly recover from a hangover.
Travis Kelce regrets bumping coach Andy Reid
Kelce, who had nine receptions for 93 yards in the Super Bowl, expressed his regret for bumping into coach Andy Reid during the game on Wednesday, February 14.
He said on the ‘New Heights’ podcast he co-hosts with his brother Jason that he was too fired up and lost his cool.
“I can’t get that fired up to the point where bumping Coach and it’s getting him off balance and stuff. When he stumbled, I was like: ‘Aw, shit’ in my head,” Kelce said.
He also said that Reid was not mad at him, but he felt he deserved a punch in the face. “I deserve it. If he would have cold cocked me in the face right there, I would have just ate it. I would have been like: ‘Let’s f****g go.’”
Kelce called his behavior a “cheap shot” and said he wished he could take it back.
