NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA: Tom Cruise, who has long been the subject of speculation regarding possible facelifts, is once again at the center of rumors after his "stretched" face appearance in a Super Bowl commercial with plastic surgeons weighing in.
The 62-year-old actor made a surprise appearance in a prerecorded video before the highly anticipated matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, igniting speculation about whether he has undergone cosmetic procedures.
This isn't the first time Cruise has faced such rumors. Earlier, he was the focus of plastic surgery chatter following the 2024 Paris Olympics and in October 2021, when he appeared at a baseball game. Cosmetic experts weighed in, suggesting that he may have used fillers and skin-tightening treatments to maintain his youthful appearance.
What did plastic surgeons say about Tom Cruise's 'stretched-out' face at Super Bowl 2025?
After Tom Cruise’s face appeared noticeably different in the 3-minute Super Bowl 2025 commercial, several plastic surgeons weighed in, suggesting that his appearance may show signs of recent filler use.
Dr Gaurav Barti, a plastic surgeon at HKB Cosmetic Surgery in Charlotte, North Carolina, pointed out changes in Cruise’s jawline. “I think the biggest thing with Tom Cruise is that he has historically aged pretty well. But the biggest thing is his jawline definition has changed, and he now looks a little fuller on the Super Bowl and a bit more stretched out... instead of that harsh definition he typically has,” he explained.

Dr Barti added, “This can happen because of weight gain, or potentially due to an over-abundance of fillers in the area that stretches the skin out and adds more volume to his face.”
Dr Bill Kortesis, another surgeon at the same clinic, agreed, noting that Cruise’s previously athletic build typically resulted in a more chiseled and thin appearance as per Daily Mail. “When people are super thin [and athletic, like Cruise] they have a chiseled appearance and a thin face. They don't have a full face,” he said.
Fillers are soft, gel-like substances injected under the skin to restore lost volume, smooth out wrinkles, and enhance facial contours. They typically last six to eight months and cost between $500 and $1,200 per syringe.
Surgeon suggests Tom Cruise may have undergone fat grafts instead of traditional fillers

Dr David Pincus, a surgeon based in Long Island, speculated that Tom Cruise may have undergone fat grafts instead of traditional fillers. This procedure involves removing fat cells from one area of the body and re-injecting them into facial lines or hollow areas to create a more natural look and smooth out the skin.
Notably, the results from fat grafting tend to be long-lasting, with the procedure costing between $1,500 and $3,800 per targeted area of the face. Surgeons also suggested that Cruise may have received fillers in areas like his nasolabial folds, crow’s feet, and cheeks.
In addition, the surgeons didn’t rule out the possibility of other cosmetic procedures, such as laser skin resurfacing. This technique uses a laser to target and destroy the outer layer of skin, heating the underlying layer, and costs between $400 and $500 per treatment. The procedure stimulates collagen growth, improving skin firmness and texture, while also resulting in smoother, tighter skin as it heals.
However, Drs Barti and Kortesis dismissed the idea that Cruise had undergone a facelift, noting that the skin around his jawline appeared too loose for such a procedure.
