LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been slammed online after a report said their $100 million Netflix contract might be in danger because of the underwhelming response their new documentary ‘Polo’ received.

The docuseries began streaming on Netflix earlier this week.

As per Netflix, the show “goes behind the scenes of professional polo, offering an unprecedented look into the players' lives on and off the field.”

However, critics found it “boring” as the five-episode documentary has mostly received negative reviews.

Brand expert claims ‘Polo’ might end Sussexs’ business deal with Netflix

The less-than-favorable response will probably affect the Sussexes, who served as executive producers on the series, as per The New York Post.

Brand expert Nick Ede has now claimed that the show’s performance could be the “nail in the coffin” for the former senior royal’s 2020 multi-million dollar deal with Netflix.

He said, “The new Polo documentary hasn’t received good reviews, and this is another foray into producing from Meghan and Harry.”

Explaining further, Ede noted, “All eyes will be on whether the show rates and makes the very important Top 10. It could, like the Invictus documentary, start well due to the public’s fascination with the pair and with polo potentially.”

“This could potentially be a nail in the coffin for their deal with the streaming giant who now use algorithms to make sure their programming is perfect for their subscribers,” he added.

Internet calls Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ‘annoying’

People online have reacted to the recent report as an X user tweeted, “Don’t know why @netflix seems to have gotten involved with Harry and Meghan. They’re not talented they just live off the fact they used to be in Royal Family but that wears thin. They’re not likeable either. They’re like Z list celebrities and that Polo was bad that poor horses.”

Another user wrote, “It should not be renewed due to them being annoying.”

“It somehow seems the fitting end for these two grifters!” an individual posted.

“Sounds like #Netflix finally woke up to these two non-talented and boring grifters, aka #TheSussexes What a waste of money…” the second one said.

A tweet read, “Let's be truthfully honest here... We all knew there was never a chance of it being renewed, long before this.”

Another tweet was “I don't think it was going to be renewed anyway. Netflix made a very costly mistake.”

A person added, “What is there to renew with a couple of ‘grifters’? What a waste of money this whole exercise has been for Netflix; and one that the shareholders will hopefully ‘reward’ at their next AGM?”

Critics feel 'Polo' should have had more of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

Nick Ede’s comment came after Decider suggested that viewers “skip” the series because it presents “a mostly boring look at a sport that very few people outside of elite circles have any particular interest in.”

The Guardian also appeared unimpressed with ‘Polo’. The publication called it “a show about privileged people showing us exactly how privileged they are, which means there isn’t a lot of drama to be found.”

As per critic Ed Power, the show does not have “enough of the Sussexes to make this anything other than a dull indulgence about a rich person’s pursuit.”

“Netflix and Archewell team up for a tedious inside-look at posh polo — and for once, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex don’t hog the limelight,” he added, as per The Post.
