Prince Harry reportedly 'erased' Prince William from Netflix series 'Polo' as royal family feud erupts
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Prince Harry's new Netflix documentary, 'Polo', premiered on Tuesday, December 10, but the royal family — especially his older brother Prince William — was conspicuously absent from the piece.
Regarding the family's conflict, host Andrew Pierce said on GB News, "There's a big gap in this because of course, polo is the favorite sport of Prince William and he isn't appearing in the documentary because he's not speaking to his brother," per Radar Online.
Prince Harry did not 'include British royal family' in Netflix docuseries 'Polo'
The Netflix series 'Polo', which explores the backstage life of the horseback sport, began streaming on the OTT behemoth on December 10, only a few weeks after the trailer was first released.
The show's executive producers Prince Harry, 40, and Meghan Markle, 43, only make a few appearances, it is believed that the couple has deliberately avoided bringing up the royal family in the series, although the royals have participated in the sport for many years.
"I mean, you can't do a polo documentary, frankly about Prince Harry if you don't include the British royal family in it because they've been playing polo for decades," Andrew Pierce said.
According to royal reporter Sarah Louise Robertson, there was "no mention" of William "whatsoever", since Harry and William are not on speaking terms at the moment. "It's almost like Harry's just erased how he got into the game in this," Robertson claimed.
"That's very interesting, he's focusing solely on playing polo where he is now in the United States, and also when he plays for the charity over in Africa. It's like he's just eliminated that history," Robertson said.
The new documentary was released shortly before Harry is set to spend Christmas at his Montecito, California, home with his wife Meghan and their two children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3—away from his royal family
It is speculated that the Sussexes were not invited to join the King and other members of the Royal Family, including Harry's estranged brother Prince William, for Christmas at Sandringham, per Daily Express.
Princes Harry and William's ongoing conflict is impacting their 'reputations'
As Prince Harry and Prince William continue to promote their charitable endeavors, the conflict between the royal brothers has begun to have an impact on their reputations.
After Harry and William did not physically reunite for the Diana Awards on Thursday, December 5, a source said per OK! Magazine, "It’s extraordinary how what was essentially a family argument has got completely out of proportion and is now causing immense damage not just to Harry’s reputation, but also to the king, who looks weak for not being able to crack his sons’ heads together, and the future king, William, who looks petty and ridiculous."
"Whether or not it is the case, it looks very much like William refused to attend the awards after hearing Harry was making a video appearance. Is this how he is going to rule the country?" they added.
Although the royal family is notoriously stubborn, William and Harry's failure to make honoring Princess Diana's legacy a top priority reflects the state of their relationship.
"The Windsors are known for being obstinate, and this is a sad indictment of both brothers’ obstinacy. It’s in honor of their mother, for goodness sake," emphasized an old school friend.
The relationship between the Duke of Sussex and the Prince of Wales soured after Harry's memoir 'Spare' was released.
A friend claimed that William "f****** hates" Harry for criticizing the monarchy in public. Although both princes were not present at the Diana Awards, William decided to write to recipients rather than appear in person.
"I am so proud of the impact every one of you has had on your communities and beyond. You are driven by kindness and compassion and through this you are all changing the world for the better," William wrote.
Despite not appearing together, Harry communicated with guests virtually. "My mother’s belief in the power of young people to drive positive change continues to inspire me," Harry told the crowd.
"No matter the challenges we face, whether it’s climate change, mental health or systemic injustices, her legacy and the efforts of young people to inspire further action in the world fill me with hope," he added.
