LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Rob Lowe had a late-night slip-up to remember when he accidentally called Jimmy Kimmel “Jimmy Fallon” during his Thursday appearance on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' on February 6.
The 'About Last Night' actor quickly realized his mistake and was left stunned as Kimmel seized the moment for some comedic banter.
Rob Lowe's talk show slip-up that had everyone laughing
During their conversation about the upcoming Super Bowl, Rob Lowe confidently declared, “I am a partisan man, Jimmy Fallon! I am bringing this country together.”
The studio audience erupted in laughter as Kimmel immediately responded, “Did you just call me Jimmy Fallon?”
Lowe, visibly stunned, covered his mouth, offering no immediate response. As the moment sank in, Kimmel quipped, “You can’t even pick a Jimmy!”
The embarrassed actor burst into laughter and attempted to high-five Kimmel who wasn’t having it. “No, I’m not high-fiving you! Put that hand down!” Kimmel teased.
Lowe then dramatically leaned back in his chair, covering his face as he giggled at his mistake.
“Oh my God, help us both,” he sighed, still laughing at the mix-up.
Jimmy Kimmel’s perfectly timed gift
Adding to the hilarity, Jimmy Kimmel reached under his desk and pulled out a unique gift for Lowe a hat with “talk show” stitched onto it.
“Here, wear this to whatever program you see fit in the future,” Kimmel joked as he handed it over.
Lowe admired the hat and grinned at the audience.
“It’s amazing,” he said, before playfully adding, “Thank you. That is really good because I like both Jimmys!”
Kimmel laughed and replied, “And both Jimmys like you.”
Rob Lowe’s history of hilarious blunders
This is not the first time Rob Lowe has mixed up notable names.
During a previous visit to 'Jimmy Kimmel Live', he shared a story about accidentally congratulating the wrong actor for a Golden Globes win.
Lowe recounted how he had been thrilled to watch Robert Downey Jr give an inspiring acceptance speech at the Golden Globes and immediately texted, “So glad you won. That is the most beautiful acceptance speech I’ve heard in a long time. Boy, do you deserve it.”
However, upon sending the message, he realized he had mistakenly sent it to Bradley Cooper who had actually lost in his category that night.
Lowe’s attempt to correct the mistake only made things more awkward. “I said, ‘No, no, I meant that for Robert Downey Jr,’” he explained.
“Now that’s even worse! I made the guy feel worse! It was terrible,” he added, according to Entertainment Weekly.
