NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA: If the Super Bowl is the biggest spectacle in sports, this year’s edition is shaping up to be a blockbuster with Taylor Swift in attendance.
As the Kansas City Chiefs are gunning for a historic three-peat, President Donald Trump, in a rare gesture, took to Truth Social on February 6, Thursday, to shower praise on Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany.
Donald Trump congratulates Mahomes family
Patrick and Brittany Mahomes recently welcomed their third child, a baby girl named Golden Raye, as their Instagram post suggest.
Naturally, Trump took to Truth Social to extend his congratulations, but true to his style, he couldn’t resist adding his own flair, Daily Beast reported.

“Congratulations to the Chiefs GREAT Quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, and his very beautiful and BRILLIANT wife, Brittany, on the birth of their new baby daughter, Golden Raye,” he wrote.

“This is what I call a baby with great genes, both mother and father," he wrote, concluding, “It’s happy times in the wonderful Mahomes family. See you all on Sunday!”
What seemed like a simple, well-wishing post was quite the opposite.
The Mahomes family has inadvertently found itself tangled in the ongoing political subplot surrounding the Chiefs, Brittany’s friendship with Taylor Swift, and Trump’s obsession with both.

Brittany Mahomes’ Donald Trump endorsement sparks political firestorm
Brittany Mahomes, once a neutral player in politics, briefly stepped into the political spotlight when she liked (and quickly unliked) a Donald Trump post about the 2024 GOP platform.
Trump seized on the moment, responding with a gushing message: “I want to thank beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me.” That brief social media misstep from Brittany seemed to set off a chain reaction.
Soon after, Swift—made waves by endorsing Kamala Harris—doubling down on her political stance.

As per AP News, Trump responded to Swift's endorsement of Harris with a pointed comment during an interview with Fox News, “I actually like Mrs Mahomes much better, if you want to know the truth. She’s a big Trump fan. I like Brittany. I think Brittany is great.”
Brittany, clearly uncomfortable with the narrative, unfollowed Trump on Instagram and sidestepped any further political commentary.
Her husband Patrick also steered clear of endorsements, emphasizing personal research and voter registration instead.
“I think my place is to inform people to get registered to vote. It’s to inform people to do their own research and then make the best decision for them and their family," he said at that time.
Donald Trump congratulates Chiefs on Super Bowl run but snubs Eagles yet again
The Kansas City Chiefs are heading to their third consecutive Super Bowl, and Donald Trump—never one to miss a chance to tie himself to a winning team—once again used the moment for some self-congratulatory fanfare.
“Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs,” he posted on Truth Social, adding, “What a GREAT Team, Coach, Quarterback, and virtually everything else, including those fantastic FANS, that voted for me (MAGA!) in record numbers. Likewise, congratulations to the Buffalo Bills on a tremendous season. They will do a lot of winning long into the future!!!”
Notably absent from his well wishes was the Philadelphia Eagles, who will be facing off against the Chiefs in New Orleans on Sunday, February 9.
Given that Trump revoked the Eagles’ White House invitation after their 2018 Super Bowl win over National Anthem protests, his silence on their return to the big game wasn’t exactly shocking.
Adding another layer of intrigue, Trump will be attending the Super Bowl, making him the first sitting president to do so.
Travis Kelce reacts to Donald Trump’s Super Bowl attendance
But what’s a Super Bowl without some drama?
Trump's presence at the game puts Swift's boyfriend and Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce, in an awkward position.
According to Vanity Fair, when asked about Trump’s attendance, Kelce took the diplomatic route.

"That's awesome. It's a great honor," he told reporters on February 5. "I think you know, no matter who the president is, I know I'm excited because it’s the biggest game of my life," he added.
Meanwhile, Kelce’s brother, Jason Kelce, confirmed that Swift is expected to be at the game to support Travis and the Chiefs.

“I don't want to speak for everybody, but I think obviously, our whole family [will be there],” Jason said.
“I believe, obviously Trav and Taylor, and his family and his friends. I mean, Trav always travels like, full," he told People on February 4.
It will be interesting to see Trump and Swift under the same stadium roof on Sunday.
