Rosie O’Donnell reveals she consulted with her therapist about leaving US if Trump became president again

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Rosie O’Donnell has revealed that she had consulted with her therapist about plans to pack her bags and move out of the United States if Donald Trump was reelected.
The comedian and former talk show host has officially left the US and is now living in Ireland, The Washington Examiner reported.
Rosie O’Donnell planned US exit with her therapist
Rosie O’Donnell didn’t make this decision lightly. She revealed that she had a whole exit plan in place carefully crafted with her therapist just in case the unimaginable happened.
“I felt on the verge of crying when I was there when he got elected,” she confessed during an appearance on Ireland’s 'The Late Late Show'.
“I, luckily, had a plan with my therapist—hope she's watching. And I said to her, should he be elected, which none of us thought was going to happen, I need a plan and the plan was always and only Ireland,” O’Donnell shared.
For O’Donnell, this wasn’t some random relocation. The 62-year-old comedian has deep Irish roots and she made it clear that her heritage played a huge role in her move.
“My grandparents are from here and I grew up, like Conan, who I saw on your show the other time, was. I'm 100% Irish on my 23 and Me,” she explained, before adding, “So, uh there was no option. It's not like—people said, ‘Why didn't you go to Italy or France?’ I'm like because I'm Irish. So, I went to Ireland, and I have to tell you that it's really felt like home since I've been here.”

And she didn’t go alone. O’Donnell confirmed back in March that she’s now living in Ireland with her 12-year-old child, Clay. She later took to TikTok to gush about how proud she is of Clay’s ability to adapt. “It’s not easy to move to another country, and we really felt as a family this was the safest and best thing for us to do,” she said.
O’Donnell said that she has no plans to return to the US anytime soon, at least “until it’s safe.”
She’s also been loving her new life in Dublin, sharing that her health and overall well-being have improved since leaving America behind. “I feel healthier, I’m sleeping better without the stress and anxiety over what was happening politically in the country,” she said.
Hollywood’s mass exodus
Rosie O’Donnell isn’t the only star who has ditched the US lately. With California losing residents left and right, Hollywood is seeing more and more celebs heading for greener pastures. The bright lights of Los Angeles just don’t shine the same when its stars are moving away.
Comedian and former talk show queen Ellen DeGeneres has relocated to England with her wife Portia de Rossi. People confirmed that the couple made the move late last year, just in time to celebrate their 20th anniversary.
DeGeneres gushed about her new life abroad with de Rossi, saying she was “happy to be with you everywhere and always.”
Then there’s Eva Longoria, who is splitting her time between Spain and Mexico. But she insists her move has nothing to do with Trump. “I didn't want it to be taken that I left because of Trump—absolutely not—or because of the elections,” she clarified on 'The View’s 'Behind the Table' podcast.
And let’s not forget Courtney Love, who’s been calling London home since 2019. The Hole frontwoman and widow of Nirvana legend Kurt Cobain is loving her life across the pond and isn’t looking back.
She gave a brutally honest take on why she prefers the UK, saying she was a fan of London’s laws. "No guns. Four seasons. Discourse. You stan a middle-aged woman far better. Discretion," she gushed.

"It’s so great to live here. I’m finally getting my British citizenship in six months," Love revealed at the Royal Geographical Society. "Emperor-core is going on at Mar-a-Lago. It’s frightening now. It’s like cyanide now," she added.
