WASHINGTON, DC: Recent rumors claim Chelsea Clinton is eyeing a run for US Congress, reigniting speculation about her political ambitions.

According to recent online posts, the daughter of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is considering replacing New York Rep Jerry Nadler.

While this isn’t the first time her name has been floated, rumors also circulated in October 2019. Now the speculation is back, alongside questions about whether she’s the right fit for public office.

Rumors claim Chelsea Clinton eyes Congress seat after Jerry Nadler exits

Assistant News Director at FLVoice News shared a tweet that quickly went viral, announcing, “BREAKING: Chelsea Clinton, daughter of Hillary Clinton, is seriously considering running for US Congress to replace outgoing New York Rep Jerry Nadler.”

Politician Ken Blackwell echoed the claim on Facebook, posting a lengthy critique questioning her suitability for the position. He opened by calling her “another Clinton trying to keep the family dynasty alive,” and insisted, “Chelsea Clinton isn’t some fresh new leader.” Blackwell labeled her “the definition of political royalty, living her whole life on privilege, connections, and corruption,” accusing her of having “no skills beyond grifting.”

He criticized her for lacking real-world experience, pointing to her past high-paying media job and her role in the Clinton Foundation. He added, “Regular Americans bust their backs for a fraction of that. Chelsea got it because of her last name. And then there’s the Clinton Foundation.”

Blackwell also questioned the Clinton Foundation’s handling of funds after Haiti’s devastating earthquake.

This unverified claim comes after Jerry Nadler, the dean of the New York congressional delegation, announced he will not run for reelection next year. In an interview with the New York Times published Monday, September 1, Nadler, 78, said he believes it is time for a generational change and that a younger person “can maybe do better, can maybe help us more.”

His office’s statement on Tuesday added that Nadler plans “to stay fully engaged in the community that is my home and in the causes that I’ve championed throughout my life.”

He pledged, “My plans for the next sixteen months, however, are clear. I will continue to give everything I have to defend our democracy, protect our institutions, and fight for the values that as Americans and New Yorkers we share.”

In an October 2019 appearance on 'The View' following the fourth Democratic presidential debate, Chelsea Clinton addressed speculation about her entering politics.

She firmly denied rumors that she was planning to run for Congress, specifically for then Rep Nita Lowey’s seat.

“I'm not considering running for Congresswoman [Nita] Lowey's seat,” she said, while acknowledging, “I understand why people are asking.”

Clinton explained that her focus at the time was on her family, not a political campaign. When co-host Whoopi Goldberg asked if she might consider running in the future, Clinton responded candidly, “I don’t know, but right now the answer is no.”

She also urged people not to make assumptions about her political intentions just because of her last name.
