Sandra Bullock sides with Brad Pitt in bid to 'stop' Angelina Jolie from receiving Oscar nod
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sandra Bullock, 60, has chosen her side in the contentious battle between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
However, sources close to the actress reveal that Bullock's preference may jeopardize Pitt's ex-wife's chances for an Oscar nomination for her critically acclaimed film ‘Maria’.
Recently, a source close to the actress spilled to In Touch Weekly that the ‘Gravity’ actress has reportedly teamed up with Pitt’s other ex, Jennifer Aniston, 55, to stop Angelina from getting a nomination for the 2025 Oscars.
Sandra Bullock sides with Brad Pitt in his contentious battle with Angelina Jolie
The source revealed that the animosity between Sandra Bullock and Angelina Jolie is not recent and dates back to at least the time of 2013's 'Gravity'.
“Sandra definitely has a history with Angie,” claimed the source, before elaborating, “There are certainly people in Angie’s camp who think Sandra’s signature role in Gravity should have gone to Angelina, since that was a project Angelina was very interested in starring in herself before Sandra landed the part.”
While Bullock and Jolie are not exactly close friends, the 'Bird Box' actress has grown closer to Jolie's ex, Brad Pitt, 60, in recent years after collaborating on two films together.
“And of course, in the years since Angelina and Brad Pitt broke up, Sandra has formed a powerful alliance with Brad on two hit movies: The Lost City and Bullet Train,” spilled the source.
After "Brangelina" split in 2016, a decade-long divorce battle began, forcing several Hollywood A-listers to choose sides. However, insiders revealed that amid this divisive situation, the 'Troy' star can count on at least one Hollywood celebrity for support.
“It’s not really a mystery where Sandra’s loyalty is and her friendship with Jen plugs both of them into a powerful network of awards voters – this is the same crew that got Andrea Riseborough an Oscar nomination out of nowhere, and it’s a lot easier for them to make sure somebody doesn’t get nominated,” dished the insider.
On the other hand, Jolie, 49, has been seeking a Hollywood comeback with her film 'Maria', based on the life of the glamorous opera singer Maria Callas, which premiered to much acclaim at the Venice Film Festival in August.
According to another source, Jolie poured her heart and soul into the project, describing it as a "career-defining role" for the 'Maleficent' star.
“Angie is assuming the identity of a woman who was every bit the glamorous star she once was and can be the kind of film that vaults her right back to the top,” shared the source to the outlet.
The insider remarked that an Academy Award or even a nomination for her efforts would solidify Jolie’s standing in Hollywood.
However, the insider noted that sources worry Bullock, backed by Aniston’s influential network, may dampen the ‘Mr and Mrs Smith’ star’s hopes for a second Oscar.
“You’d hope for Angie’s sake, after all she put herself through to make Maria, that she could neutralize this threat but Jen’s social network is incredibly powerful, it’s tightly knit, and it’s full of A-listers,” added the initial source.
Brad Pitt is 'not rooting against' Angelina Jolie
Though the former power couple has been locked in a contentious court battle for several years, a source close to them revealed that despite their differences, Brad Pitt maintains he is "not rooting against" Angelina Jolie.
On the other hand, sources close to Jolie revealed that the 'The Tourist' actress finds the situation "incredibly sad."
