WASHINGTON, DC: Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House Press Secretary, found herself in hot water after her response to a question about the passing of OJ Simpson drew widespread criticism, as per Daily Mail.

Simpson, the former football star whose rise to fame was overshadowed by his infamous role in the 'Trial of the Century', passed away on Wednesday, April 10, at the age of 76 after battling cancer.

During a press briefing on Thursday, April 11, a reporter inquired if President Joe Biden had any reaction to Simpson's death or if there had been any encounters between the two over the years. Jean-Pierre's response was short and dismissive.

"Our thoughts are with, uh, are with his families during this difficult time, obviously with his family and loved ones," she stated, adding, "I know that they have asked for some privacy, and so we're going to respect that. I'll just leave it there."

Notably, Jean-Pierre avoided mentioning Nicole Brown or Ronald Goldman in her response.

Simpson, a former football star and actor, was accused of the murders of ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman in 1994. The highly publicized trial captivated audiences worldwide and ended with Simpson's acquittal of the murder charges.

Despite being found not guilty in the criminal trial, Simpson was later held liable for the wrongful deaths of Goldman and Brown in a civil trial. His problems with law enforcement continued in 2007 when he was involved in an armed robbery incident in Las Vegas, resulting in his imprisonment for nine years.

Upon learning of Jean-Pierre's dismissive response in the wake of Simpson's death, the internet swiftly criticized her. One X user expressed, "Seriously disgusting." Another echoed, "More garbage spewing out. No mention of the real victims who were murdered?"
