LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: An awards show wouldn't be complete without a bit of shade, and the 2024 ACM Awards delivered just that.

While the Academy of Country Music Awards is typically more about celebrating achievements than throwing digs, this year, Morgan Wallen found himself the target of some country-style trolling, as reported by US Weekly.

Actor Noah Reid and singer Ashley McBryde took the stage to announce the winner for Single of the Year with a memorable twist. Instead of a straightforward introduction, McBryde strummed a ukulele while Reid sang a playful version of Wallen's hit 'Last Night,' hinting at Wallen's recent legal troubles.

Reid's lyrics referenced the infamous chair-throwing incident that led to Wallen's arrest: "Last night after some alcohol, the chair right over there really started to piss me off. They told me that I threw it at somebody I never met, and my publicist keeps telling me this ain't over yet."

The audience roared with laughter, enjoying the lighthearted mockery. However, the online reaction was mixed, with many of Wallen's fans defending him and criticizing the jab as unnecessary, especially given Wallen's absence from the event.

Morgan Wallen has publicly acknowledged that the chair-throwing incident wasn't his proudest moment. In April 2024, he was arrested in Nashville for allegedly throwing a chair off a bar rooftop, narrowly missing police officers.

Wallen faced three counts of felony reckless endangerment and one count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct, with a bond set at $15,250.

Following his arrest, Wallen issued an apology on social media, expressing remorse for his actions. "I've touched base with Nashville law enforcement, my family, and the good people at Chief's. I'm not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility," he wrote. Despite the legal troubles, Wallen assured fans that his tour schedule would remain unaffected.

The case is still unresolved, with Wallen opting out of a May court appearance and rescheduling for August 2024. Legal experts suggest that while Wallen faces potential jail time, it's unlikely he will serve consecutive sentences, potentially facing a maximum of two years if not granted probation.
