Melania's office reveals Barron Trump has pulled out of being RNC delegate due to 'prior commitments'
PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Former President Donald Trump's youngest son, Barron Trump, was offered the opportunity to serve as a Florida delegate at the Republican National Convention.
However, according to RadarOnline.com, Barron has declined the offer and it remains unclear whether he will attend the convention.
Notably, the list of delegates includes several members of the Trump family such as Donald Trump Jr, his fiancee Kimberly Guilfoyle, Eric Trump, Tiffany Boulos (formerly, Trump), and her husband Michael Boulos.
What did Melania Trump’s office reveal about son Barron’s decision to skip the convention?
On Friday, May 10, Melania Trump’s office issued a statement, saying, "While Barron is honored to have been chosen as a delegate by the Florida Republican Party, he regretfully declines to participate due to prior commitments.”
Within months of graduating from high school, Barron Trump, 18, was chosen as a delegate to take part in formally nominating his father, Donald Trump, as the 2024 Republican presidential candidate.
His prospective political debut was expected to take place at the Milwaukee GOP convention in July.
Per an insider, "Barron is very interested in our nation's political process.”
Julian Zelizer, a professor of political history at Princeton University, suggested, "The Trump family might be trying to position themselves as the next dynasty.”
"It signals that they have their eye on the future, that this was not just a one-shot deal," Zelizer remarked.
"Will there be more Trumps in politics? ... This just adds to that speculation," the Princeton University professor claimed.
Last year, there was some controversy surrounding Barron, and some people believed that he chose to keep a low profile to protect his privacy.
This came after Mike Sington, a former NBC News executive, tweeted that Barron was "fair game" after he turned a legal adult in the United States. The tweet instigated a massive uproar on social media, prompting Sington to later delete the contentious remark.
According to an insider, "Melania has been incredibly protective of Barron and has told Donald she would not stand for him to be exploited by anyone.”
In March, Chelsea Clinton, the former First Daughter, publicly stood up for Barron. "I think he's a private citizen," she said on 'The View'. "I feel so strongly that if you are a private citizen, you have an unimpeachable right to privacy, and I think the media should leave him alone."
