WASHINGTON, DC: Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy slammed Maine's decision to disqualify Donald Trump from the state's primary ballot, scheduled to take place in March 2024.

According to Mediaite, in a clip posted by NBC's Alex Tabet on X (formerly Twitter), the entrepreneur said, "I think it's unconstitutional... It's one person just made a unilateral, monarchical determination that Donald Trump doesn't belong on the ballot," about Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows' decision.

He added, "Now he's [Trump] taken off the ballot in Maine. That's not the United States of America. It's anti-American. It's fundamentally unconstitutional, but it's not only is unconstitutional, it goes to the heart of who we are. We're a country; if it means one thing to be American, it's that we, the people, choose who runs the country."

On December 28, Bellows announced the decision to remove the ex-POTUS, citing his alleged involvement in the January 6 Capitol insurrection to overturn the 2020 election results.

The landmark decision led to threatening messages, impeachment warnings, and attacks from the Trump campaign against her.

Vivek Ramaswamy pledges to remove his name from Maine ballot

Reiterating his pledge to remove himself from the Colorado ballot when the state Supreme Court disqualified Trump's candidacy in the primary, Ramaswamy repeated the same with Maine.

He noted, "I stand by my pledge. Any state where Donald Trump is forcibly removed from the ballot in this way, I'll also remove myself."

The biotech entrepreneur challenged fellow GOP presidential contenders Chris Christie, Nikki Haley, and Ron DeSantis to do the same or else they are also "complicit."

"If every Republican removes themselves from the ballot in Maine, that automatically stops the selection interference in our GOP primary," expressed Ramaswamy.

Ramaswamy also put forth a conspiracy theory that the candidates not removing their names indicated something deeper was happening.

He stated, "There's a force within the Republican establishment that's propped up a chosen puppet, and they're actually rooting for this same outcome every bit as much as the Democrats are."

Adding that he is "worried" for the country, Ramaswamy warned that it "is just the beginning of what they're planning to pull in 2024." He also noted, "They will eliminate this man from contention in this election," while speaking about Trump's participation in the 2024 presidential election.

Internet reacts to Vivek Ramaswamy calling the removal of Donald Trump from Maine ballot 'unconstitutional'

Soon after Ramaswamy's remarks regarding Trump's removal from the Maine ballot came to light, netizens wasted no time to mock him and his knowledge of the Constitution.

One said, "It's literally in the constitution...! And him removing himself is doing us all a favor," with another stating, "No loss there LOL and it would be unconstitutional to keep Trump on the ballot."

A person noted, "The 14th amendment is clear. He apparently is not," while someone else questioned, "Suddenly, Vivek is a constitutional scholar?"

An individual remarked, "It’s not, thanks for playing Vivek. Feel free to drop out," and one more quipped, "The Constitution is unconstitutional."

"Ahhh yes the constitutional scholar," quipped one more, while a netizen joked, "Unconstitutional while being IN THE CONSTITUTION, got it."
