KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI: Since Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce made their relationship public in 2023, the Swiftie fandom has warmly welcomed the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and, by extension, the entire team. However, Kelce's recent sighting alongside Morgan Wallen is poised to change this stance.

Flashback to 2021, when rising country music superstar Morgan Wallen became embroiled in a series of self-inflicted controversies, including his infamous racial slur incident, which became one of the most talked-about scandals in the industry.

Travis Kelce's association Morgan Wallen sparks outrage among Swifties

Morgan Wallen, entangled in the controversial racial slur incident, recently took the stage in Kansas City for his 'One Night At A Time' tour.

The second night brought unexpected drama when Chiefs stars Travis Kelce, QB Patrick Mahomes, and defensive tackle Chris Jones joined Wallen on stage.

This surprise appearance didn’t sit well with Swifties, who were unhappy with Kelce’s association with the controversial country singer, as per Whiskey Riff.

In 2021, Wallen faced accusations of racism after using the N-word while intoxicated.

A storm of backlash followed, resulting in his removal from radio and streaming playlists and a vague suspension of his record deal.

The fallout saw many country fans and media critics expressing their disappointment and supporting the repercussions. However, a dedicated group of Wallen's supporters rallied to keep his latest album, 'Dangerous,' at the top of Billboard’s charts and his streaming numbers strong, nearly matching their previous highs.

However, Kelce's latest move has left them less than thrilled, stirring up emotions once again among Swifties.

A viewer expressed, "I may be becoming a Travis hater."

In a similar fashion, another observer added, "Papa Travis is hanging out with Morgan Wallen, we need to tell mama Taylor."

Furthermore, a viewer pointed out, "Oh man, Travis Kelce hanging with the racist guy.... Taylor.... Get your man."

Joining the discussion, a follower shared, "Taylor needs to have a talk with her man; cause this ain’t it."

However, Wallen seems to rise above the criticism, as his recent performances in Indianapolis on April 4 and April 5 saw the singer heap praise on the pop sensation.

Morgan Wallen surprises Swifties with support

Irrespective of the detest brewing among Swifties, Morgan Wallen has recently shown his public support for Taylor Swift in a rather surprising way.

During a record-setting performance at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, he proudly announced to his audience that their concert was "the single most attended event in the history of this building," and added with a touch of pride, "and we’re the first to achieve this for two consecutive nights."

“I’m going to say that until Taylor Swift comes to town,” he joked to the crowd. A TikTok video captured the moment, showing Wallen's comment provoking a wave of boos and jeers from the stadium.

“I know y’all got my back, though,” he said, according to the Daily Beast.

Attempting to defuse the tension, he told the crowd, "You didn’t have to boo," but quickly turned the situation around by expressing his gratitude for their fervent energy.

Although Wallen topped Swift in album sales last year, with 'One Thing at a Time' surpassing 'Midnights' on Billboard’s 2023 Year-End Hot 200 chart, Swift outshone him in nearly every other area of success.

She snagged her fourth Album of the Year Grammy for 'Midnights,' and her Eras Tour has already raked in over $1 billion since its debut, according to various estimates.

As for Swifties, some took offence of the incident while others sang a positive tune.

Taking to X, one wrote, "When you sell out stadiums all over America and overseas, give me a call. Taylor Swift has some more class than you and your fans. She would never insult you, even though you deserve to be. Drop Taylor’s name to get your name out there. I don’t see you insulting any male artist."

Another said, "Morgan Wallen who?? Never heard of him until he made the news by dropping Taylor's name. Desperate for attention. TS wouldn't do that to anyone. She already has countless media attention. Morgan doesn't have 500+ followers worldwide & he's not a billionaire. Case closed."

However, one user wrote, "You must have poor reading comprehension. He didn't insult her; he complimented her by saying she would have a larger crowd. Sheesh."

Another joined, tweeting, "He was complimenting her, so many soft people anymore..boohoo."
