Sydney Sweeney sparks Elon Musk comparison as she debuts unrecognizable look for boxing biopic

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Fans were left stunned after spotting Sydney Sweeney's shocking transformation on the set of her upcoming film, with many comparing her new look to that of Elon Musk.

The 26-year-old actress, known for her blonde bombshell image and glamorous style, appeared almost unrecognizable as she took on the role of boxer Christy Martin for the David Michod-directed biopic.

Sporting a curly brunette wig, a blue bandana, and baggy clothing, Sweeney channeled Christy's look from the 1990s. 

The 'Anyone But You' actress' co-star, Ben Foster, has also undergone a significant transformation, donning a blonde wig and facial prosthetics to play Christy's abusive husband, James "Jim" Martin.

Known as the "Coal Miner’s Daughter," credit to her father's job, Christy Martin revolutionized women’s boxing in the 1990s, becoming a household name after her 1996 match against Deirdre Gogarty in Las Vegas. While she enjoyed fame and success in the ring, her personal life was marred by abuse.

Christy, originally from West Virginia, has openly discussed the violence she endured at the hands of her husband, who was also her trainer. In 2010, James brutally attacked her, stabbing and shooting her in a near-fatal incident.

Despite the horrific assault, Christy survived and her ex-husband was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Christy, who later came out as lesbian, tied the knot with fellow boxer Lisa Holewyne in 2017 and now works as a promoter.

Reflecting on the biopic, she expressed her hope that the film will raise awareness about domestic violence and the challenges of sexuality, noting that her story is not just about boxing but also about resilience and survival.

Although Christy Martin hasn’t personally spoken to Sydney Sweeney yet, she is eager to support the "young, hot, and talented" actress. 

The Hall of Fame boxer even hopes to make a cameo in the film and is confident that the movie will be a powerful statement, one that "fathers will watch with their daughters to make them aware of domestic violence."

She added, "I want this movie to bring awareness to domestic violence, the challenge of sexuality and overall underdog story."

Sweeney, who has a background in MMA and kickboxing, told Deadline, "I've been itching to get back into the ring, train, and transform my body," as per Daily Mail.

With the film set to hit the Cannes Film Festival, both Sweeney and Christy are hopeful it will resonate with audiences and shed light on important issues.
