NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA: The Kansas City Chiefs’ devastating loss at the 2025 Super Bowl has left the Swifties pondering over one of the most famous issues of their idol - the fate of Taylor Swift's relationship with Travis Kelce.

The game is certainly an event that the couple, both 35, would like to forget. Not only did the Chiefs lose to the Philadelphia Eagles and miss their opportunity to score a three-peat but Swift also had a humiliating evening after being booed by the Eagles-heavy New Orleans crowd. 

A day after the Super Bowl, on Monday, February 10, the ‘Lover’ singer was spotted boarding her parked private jet at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport by her internet sleuth fans, but Kelce was nowhere to be seen, sparking several wild fan theories about the current state of the couple’s romance.

A day after the match, the ‘Lover’ singer made a swift exit from New Orleans while being hidden by a plethora of umbrellas. Still, eagle-eyed fand got a glimpse of one singular part of her outfit - a pair of ruby red loafers that she allegedly put on while boarding the plane, as reported by Daily Mail.

While the red loafers may have or have not been Easter egg - which the songstress is very fond of giving to her fans - the Swifties think there is more to the outfit.

While a section of fans agreed that the shoes were simply a nod to the ruby red slippers from 'The Wizard of Oz', the other group sensed something deeper. 

One of the TikTok users, who often discusses several fan theories surrounding Taylor Swift, even went on to claim that the Chiefs' defeat in the Super Bowl acted as a catalyst for the end of the fairytale romance of Swift and Kelce.

The user, who goes by the name Jordyn (@djcrocs), shared her theories with a screengrab of a Daily Mail article containing an image of the singer's footwear.

They said, "It almost feels too spot on for everything that we have been talking about for the past couple of months and years with the Wizard of Oz and the stories that Taylor has been telling."

"I feel that really ramped up towards the end of the Eras Tour where a lot of us were really expecting there to be some sort of closure or full circle moment that we didn't get," Jordyn added. 

She explained, "So the fact that after the Super Bowl the last game of the season, we see Taylor leaving in her ruby red slippers... the show is over," before noting pointedly, "We're waking up from the dream."

Referencing the fantasy piece, she said, "It's very much like 'The Wizard of Oz' when Dorothy wakes up, realizes it's all a dream, clacks her heels, and goes back home."

She also added that she feels Swift - who didn't receive a warm welcome from the New Orleans crowd - "ghosted after the Super Bowl and she's going to lie low." 

"We won't see her for a couple of weeks," noted the user, before adding, "When she picks up and continues with the story, I'm very excited to see where it goes." 

"I never actually said they broke up or that she left him! Just that she ghosted & disappeared after the game and now we see her leaving in ruby slippers," the TikToker later clarified in the comments section. 

Netizens cook up a variety of theories about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce

While a section of the fans sided with the TikToker and agreed that her ruby red slippers, paired with white socks and blue jeans, are hinting toward the downfall of her romance, another group boldly dismissed the claim of the songstress hinting about her love life through her wardrobe. 

One of the fans summed up in the comments section, "She woke up from her dream of love and is going home," and someone else added, "I’m so convinced that we didn’t get closure because of the leaked contract. Also that 2190 days is 6 year Lover anniversary."

"Now it’s time for the breakup rumors ✨✨," wrote one more. 

Another fan, however, did not buy into the rumors, as they said, "She’s going home to Travis….duh. Travis was seen walking alone because the entire team has to fly on the same plane back to Kansas. Jeez, you guys…."

"OR, she wore red bc Travis team red and that was a clothing option. Also, maybe she had somewhere to be?" chimed in someone else. 

Another explained, "Travis has to go home with the team so that's why they weren't seen together at the end of the game." Someone else, meanwhile slammed the critics, penning, "Can’t wait for y’all’s crash out when they’re seen together again 😭😭."

Some even claimed that the red slippers belonged to a completely different person altogether, the pop star's friend, Ashley Avignone.
