The Chiefs’ official Instagram account shared the announcement, featuring Kelce as the nominee for the prestigious award. The caption read, “We are honored to announce our Walter Payton Man of the Year Award nominee, @killatrav 👏.” 

The post also encouraged fans to vote for Kelce in the Charity Challenge, stating, “Vote for Travis in the Charity Challenge at the link in our bio! #WPMOYChallenge | @nationwide.”

Accompanying the post was a video highlighting Kelce’s impact off the field, with a message, "You know him for what he does on Sundays, but his efforts reach further than the football field. Thank you for all that you do @killatrav 🫶.”

Both posts quickly garnered over 50K likes within hours, with fans sharing their admiration for Kelce’s contributions and talent, emphasizing how deserving he is of the honor.

Travis Kelce has previously been nominated in 2020, though he lost to now-Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson. The 32 nominees for the award will be considered, with the winner to be announced during the NFL Honors event during Super Bowl week in New Orleans.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell spoke about the significance of the award, stating, “The Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award celebrates Walter's enduring legacy of excellence on the field and compassion off it.” 

He added, “This award is the league's most prestigious honor, and we are proud to recognize these 32 outstanding men for the positive impact they make in their communities every day.”

According to Daily Mail, the winner of the award will receive a donation of up to $265,000 for a charity of their choice, while the other nominees will receive up to $55,000 for their causes.
