WASHINGTON, DC: Republican Congressman Andy Biggs has made an embarrassing remark on his party's campaign as reported by liberal news network Meidas Touch.

The Arizona lawmaker demeaned the GOP in a conversation with Newsmax's 'The Chris Salcedo Show' while discussing Congress potentially passing supplemental funding.

"We have nothing. In my opinion, we have nothing to go out there and campaign on. It's embarrassing!" Biggs said. The host, Chris Salcedo, responded to the acknowledgment with laughter, "The Republican Majority has zero accomplishments."

Sharing the interview clip on X, Meidas Touch's Editor in Chief mocked the statement with the caption, "This is not true. The House passed a bill to rename the Washington Crossings Post Office in NJ to the Susan C. Barnhart Post Office."

Not the first inside criticism against the GOP

This is not the first time a party member has made a similar statement.

According to Newsweek, in November 2023, another GOP congressman, Chip Roy, tore into fellow Republicans, saying they had done "nothing" with the House majority.

"For the life of me, I do not understand how you can go to the trouble of campaigning, raising money, going to events, talking to people, coming to this town as a member of a party who allegedly stands for something, and then do nothing about it," he said.

Less than two months after Roy's blasting against the Republican party, Biggs' statement has given a chance to the Democrats to create a potential campaign ad as the nation is gearing up for the first step in the 2024 presidential election, with the Iowa caucus on January 15.

Internet reacts

Netizens are mocking Biggs as well as the Republican Party after he admits they have done nothing for the nation. Ridiculing it as a "historic achievement," many pointed out the party knows to spread "hate."

One user wrote, "Cowardice. They have truckloads of cowardice."

Another user remarked, "Zero accomplishments. Zero accountability. Zero effort. All they do is collect paychecks and make people hate each other."

"Certainly a historic achievement," read another mocking response.

A fourth user added, "Sure they do. They campaign on hate and fear. Their base loves it. Now, they can add on their desire to end democracy."

"Absolutely shocked that Andy Biggs actually had that level of party and self awareness," said a fifth user.

Another reaction read, "Geez, I thought they were running on defeating the woke." Another one added, "So they make stuff up."
