MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA: A video posted on social media by Hope Walz, the 24-year-old daughter of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, drew widespread attention.

In the footage, she addressed critics she blamed on “the entire right‑wing infrastructure.” The comments came amid ongoing controversy over fraud allegations involving Minnesota’s Somali community programs.

Hope Walz’s response to right‑wing criticism

The viral video posted on Monday, December 29, Hope accused conservatives and what she called the “entire right‑wing infrastructure” of launching a “hate and bot campaign” against her and her family.

“In the name of transparency, because I think that is what people appreciate about me and my content,” Hope said.

Hope then said that having this alleged campaign launched against her “really sucks,” particularly because she considers herself a private citizen who “pays rent” and works multiple jobs. She described receiving “an extreme amount, overwhelming amount of DMs, comments, emails just peddling propaganda, pushing agendas.”

Hope insisted she had “nothing to do with anything” related to the accusations against her father’s administration and said the criticism “really, really hurts.”

She claimed, "This is how people get hurt. And I have a great support system and I’m like very confident in who I am as a person in the work that I do."

She also expressed concern about living in what she called a “post‑truth world,” calling it "scary," and accused critics of believing “what their dear leader tells them to” in order to “spin reality to fit that."

Toward the end of the video, Hope said she would “continue to do my own thing” but felt compelled to speak out.

Hope Walz’s outspoken criticism of Trump

Hope has a history of outspoken political commentary on social media, often aligning with liberal viewpoints similar to those associated with her father.

This was not her only recent controversial post. In prior videos, she has criticized President Donald Trump’s policies, including an executive order concerning transgender athletes in sports.

Earlier in December, she responded to remarks by Trump, including a slur directed at her father, with a profanity‑laced TikTok tirade, claiming that the online environment was “not safe” for her and accusing Trump supporters of being “cult members.”

She also said, “Calling my dad what he did has unleashed a storm, I have people DMing me saying absolutely horrendous things.”

Hope also targeted Donald Trump Jr, urging him to seek help for what she called “daddy issues” after he defended his father’s comments about Walz.

In another social media post days before the right‑wing criticism video, she sent a Christmas message criticizing the Trump administration and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), saying “Merry Christmas to neighbors that ICE has been terrorizing” in Minnesota’s Somali community.
