Cruise, who has spent his career performing high-octane stunts, is now taking his ambitions to a whole new level—literally. According to insiders, the 'Mission: Impossible' actor is working with Universal Pictures on a project that could see him shooting a film in space. The plan involves collaboration with SpaceX, Elon Musk’s private aerospace company, to take Cruise beyond the Earth’s atmosphere.

Director Doug Liman, who previously teamed up with Cruise on the sci-fi hit 'Edge of Tomorrow,' is also involved in the project. While details remain under wraps, filming in space is more than just a pipe dream. “It’s a dream and a plan,” Liman has said, confirming the seriousness of the endeavor.

But it’s not just the thrill of performing the ultimate stunt driving Cruise. The actor has long been captivated by the idea of extraterrestrial life. According to a source close to Cruise, his obsession with UFOs and the paranormal is a key factor behind his determination to film in space.

“It’s not just the ultimate stunt,” says the insider, “but he’s also fascinated with UFOs.”

The actor reportedly spends hours researching UFOs, reading declassified documents, and observing the skies through high-powered telescopes.

"He spends hours reading about them and studying all the many classified documents that have been released about them in the last few years. He has all sorts of high-powered telescopes and thinks people that doubt the existence of life on other planets are the delusional ones who are just kind of uneducated," the source added.
