WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump ally Tom Fitton sparked outrage on social media following his recent claim that President Joe Biden will resign from office on Monday, July 8, as reported by The Raw Story.

Fitton, known for his vocal support of former president Trump, made this assertion without any concrete evidence, citing anonymous sources. The Judicial Watch president, who is not a trained attorney but frequently comments on legal matters, is facing significant backlash for his remarks.

Fitton's claim was made in a recent video where he stated, "I reported this week that I was hearing that President Biden was going to resign from office on Monday. I haven't seen anything to suggest that what I'm hearing is wrong."

This statement has been met with skepticism and criticism from various quarters, given Fitton's history of promoting right-wing causes and his close ties to the GOP.

Fitton's influence within the Republican Party is notable. He participated in a GOP debate in December 2023, where he was allowed to ask questions despite not being a candidate or an elected official.

During the debate, he raised concerns about election integrity and the actions of federal law enforcement agencies. "Many Republicans are concerned about the legitimacy of elections," he said, directing his question to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, according to HuffPost.

He also questioned former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie on restoring public faith in federal agencies, suggesting that these agencies had unfairly targeted Trump while being lenient towards Hillary Clinton and Biden.

As the president of Judicial Watch, a conservative activist group, Fitton has been involved in various right-wing causes. These include addressing perceived censorship in social media, prosecuting Hunter Biden, and investigating the January 6 insurrection.

Fitton's involvement in the latter was highlighted by a bipartisan House select committee that investigated the attack. The committee revealed an email from Fitton to the White House, dated October 31, 2020, suggesting language for a Trump public statement claiming victory in the election.

Fitton's draft statement read, "We had an election today ― and I won. Some believe Election Day deadlines don’t matter and would attack democracy through fraud and judicial activism. Counting ballots that arrive after Election Day is unfair and shows contempt for the will of the people."

This email was part of a broader effort to challenge the legitimacy of the 2020 election results, which Trump ultimately lost.
